Hello fellow submariners. I played Silent Hunter 3 a few years back and absolutely loved it. My captain was a bit subversive and would play Duke Ellington and Django Rheinhardt on the gramophone. Used to really annoy the Nazis on board. btw, is that feature in SH5 anywhere?
I couldn't get to grips with 4 though, for some reason. I think it was the bugs.
So now I've got SH5 and I'm getting hooked again. I love the FPP aspect. There are a few disappointments, though, esp. the piss poor instruction 'manual'. I found it totally unhelpful and a complete waste of time. Who cares that Hans had a crappy childhood, tell me how to play the freakin' game! I've learnt more from these pages.
I'm wary about installing mods (coz I'm scared, like) but reading some of the threads there seems to be a lot of recommendations for them and after being disillusioned by the bugs in 4 I'm wondering if I should stop being a wuss and install some.
So, is it essential that I install any mods and if so what are the fewest I can get a way with?
