China submits islands row to UN

Time for the US or UK to exercise their veto me thinks :)

China has submitted to the UN a detailed explanation of its claims to a disputed area of the East China Sea.
It argues that certain geological features prove its territory extends out to a group of islands near Japan.

Apparently there are Japanese buried there, so it's understandable that they want it.

"A UN commission of geological experts will examine China's submission but does not have the authority to resolve conflicting claims."

Who does have this authority?

The UN does, ifboth groups agree to to the examination of the claim and then both agree to the findings delivered after the examination, and no other interested party like perhaps the other china decide to object.

As you can see, that is a rather big if
