Questions about the Crew
Hey guyz,
im playing with GWX and im asking myself which crewmember can work better on the diffrent stations, the monkeys (seaman) or the boatswain? Or do i need a mix of them? Also, im playing with WSM and i gues the Weapon Officer is not needed anymore for service with AA-guns and 10,5 Turrets? As far as i can see, he´s only needed for torpedo actions. Thanks for answer´s. |
The boatswains hold out longer with regard to fatigue. They can also have a speciallity in which they excell and add extra to the station's endurance bar. (small badges/icon attached to them, signifying their ideal station) But you can only have a limited amount on them onboard, so you'll have to choose where to put them. And fill the remaining with the other seamen.
If you use SH3 Commander then you can turn off the fatigue system, and then it doesn't matter much who goes where. Except that the speciallized boatswains perform better at their stations. I'm not familiar with the WSM mod. Or whatever it is. |
Thanks for that so far. If you dont know WSM3.0 you should try it, its great.

And if i use the max boatswain´s crew with special skill for the (example) deckgun station even if the green bar is full, what happens? Does it aim better or reload faster? |

The engine compartment and torpedo compartment do however have a certain threshold where operations stop. Below some level the engines stop, and torpedo reload stops also. Where this level is, is probably dependant on the mods you are playing. Since I do my own torpedo targeting I can't see how this influences my accuracy. Might have an effect on duds/premature detonations. But that is simply speculation on my part. |
What is the actual Version of the WSM and fan it run either on GWX and on Ccom 9.0?

The green bar is as I understand it actually compartment efficiency by default. Too little green your engines won't run, your gunners can barely hit the ocean, and so on. This can be a result of too few crewmen trying to run things, or anything that makes a crewman unable to do his job such as exhaustion or injury, which has the same effect as the crewman not being there thus lowering efficiency.
Boatswains and officers are better at their jobs as such add more to the bar than an equal number of sailors all else being equal, qualifications boost that effect even further. |

- WSM 2.0 - Very nice ships but the radio and radar is not working, very very bad and almost not playable. With that you not getting any messages and cant scan ships, convoys etc. in your area...good for a short test or single mission fun with that ships but impossible to play a campaign with it. - WSM 3.0 - Radio and Radar works but not so much ships like in 2.0. - WSM 3.0 GWX - Runs perfekt with GWX 3.0 Gold, Radio and Radar works and im using it all the time. If you need some of these let me know, took me some time to find that things. Quote:

I tried it with the diesel engine for example but there is no speed increase....maybe the ship accelerate is better but i dont think so...
The question is not faster or slower - the question is: can the engine run; yes or no? Is there enough "ammassed efficency" to run the engines? With noob Monkeys, you need more of them than with experienced Monkeys... and the engine room is small: you can only fit so many men in there. |

Another good idea but ubi missed it... |
depends, depends. define horrible.
compare real life numbers (shots fired/Hits scored) and your experience ingame. i bet your guys are better than the real thing. in worse conditions, over longer distances on equally small targets. And they reload their 88 and 105 guns much better than the average crew did back then. and if you are STILL pissed off, then do it yourself... simple as that! Give the game a break...? And why dissing ubi? because they give you uber tools and you are still not satisfied? |
Can't really understand your reaction now?
I´m not pissed of just doing normal conversation with you...im not "dissing" ubi i just marked that they could have done more out of that crew system...I also dont want them to hit by every shot or beeing "ueber" soldiers or what ever.... After a few battles with the boatswain gunners and the officer with gunner skill i see the diffrence, the gunners are better then normal seaman´s. I think that´s based on the exp level but im not sure about it: http://www.abload.de/img/138k8d.jpg |
"horrible shooting" and "ubi missed it"
led me to lose it. Its an old game. Its a game. Ubi can not please everyone. and of course its the easiest thing to say: "they could have done better", hm? How about you let the first two, three patrols be as they are. As shafty as the results will be. Accept them as they come, find out the difficulties, and try not to get yourself killed. and if you get yourself killed, start over, incorporating your own experience: - buy higher level crew, no noobs - if unsatisfied with their shooting, man the guns yourself - tactics If you manage to keep your crew alive, not only for 3 months, but for 4 years, you will see a significant increase of the green bar. cause, even if the monkeys CAN be promoted (by experience numbers) not always do you acually get permission to promote them. Or all of them. It takes a looooot of time. not days or a week of playing. Months. :03: |
