KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Abrams, you better be screwing with us, because Cumberbatch may have a cult fan following, but he's no Montalban.

Nice trailer though, although again it's all explosions and that, but that seems par for the course for new Trek, I'll still watch it. :yep:

It was something that was coming from a long way. The villain had to be Khan (Kirk great nemesis, etc). Did not dislike the trailer, and now I want to know how is the movie, the story etc.
On the other side, by the description of the trailer early this week plus some rumors, one have to shout Gary Mitchel instead of Khan!

But, Is the enterprise also a submarine? :hmmm::huh::stare:

Yea Gary Mitchel would have been better. Based on the plot summery I was also thinking Garth of Izar was possible.

Khan... that really disappoints me... :nope:

A bit different don't you think?:O:

"Fry: How many atmospheres can the ship withstand?!

Prof. Farnsworth: Well, it's a spaceship, so I would say anywhere between 0 and 1."

Gotta be worth a viewing even on the grounds it's a Trek movie at the very least.

After that abomination in 2009? No thank you. For some of us it is simply better to try to forget JJ Abrams.

I think a movie with Gary Mitchel was actually done as a villain in this -Unofficial- Star Trek Movie: Star Trek: Of Gods and Men (Worth a watch sometimes, even has Walter Koenig as Chekov!)

Looks like a steaming pile of horse dung to me. Another big effects film with a bloody awful storyline.

Longer trailer undermines the Khan theory as posited by GFR:

I'm also hoping for Garth of Izar, or Gary Mitchel...anything but Khan! :yep:

Rhodes 12-10-12 06:09 AM

I was reading here: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/12/1...s-imax-footage

If it's Khan, it would a be a very different character as is back story. After the Blond girl in teaser was compared with Elizabeth Dehner (even the same hair cut), the villain is becoming more and more Gary Mitchell.
It may be a good villain character for the movie and story.

TLAM Strike 12-10-12 09:43 AM

I don't think its going to be Gary Mitchel because IDW has the contract for the comic series linked to JJ's version of Star Trek, they did the Countdown and Nero comics that set the stage for Star Trek 2009 and Star Trek: Online. Both were released just before the movie as a "our story so far". IDW has already done a version of the Gary Mitchel story where Kirk kills Gary but it was not the tie in comic which has yet to be released, Paramont would not allow them to do that story if it conflicted with JJ's movie (they have done that before and forced a publisher to change villains).

Yes, I also read that, but did not know that there were canon comics that fill the gaps between movies, etc. Still, Garth is very "illogical" pardon me the pun, and khan, with out some screen back story?
Well, it could be Khan and without what I said and still be a good remake of the original story, but in the other hand...
Well, wait and see. At least this all, and the trailer made me want to see the movie. Lets hope that it wont be those movies that the trailer is better than the movie...

The comics like the novels and games are not truly canon but Paramount is careful about having them copy a forthcoming story in a canon production. Paramount has vetoed a comic plot before.
