New guy checking in from Indiana.
 

FNG checking in here for the first time. I'm REALLY new to the SH sim game, after coming from CFS2 and FS2004. I have SH3 & 4 installed and running well so far. I find them quite immersive. So far the only thing I have managed to sink is myself, so I guess the learning curve is steep.

I do have one question: I D/L the patches 1 through 4 from the Ubisoft site. But when I try to install them I get a message that says it can't find the the game installed and to install a earlier version. Is that normal. I have the game installed in the default location. Thanks.

Welcome aboard stoney65! I'm originally from Indiana myself. If you just purchased the SH3 sim, it is most likely already patched to v1.4. You can tell by looking in the lower right corner of the main screen.

Thanks guys. As I say, I'm a COMPLETE noob in this, as such I will try not to be such a PIA with questions. I found the version I'm running, it is: v1.3, out of the box. So I figure the patch 1.4 would be the next obvious thing to do. NOPE, the install wizard says it can't find my SH4 install. I'm not one to quibble over such, I was just wondering if that has happened to anyone else. I'm having plenty of fun playing it as is though.:)

I think 1.3 might actually be 1.4, but await somebody else to confirm.

First, you don't need all the patches. Version 4 includes everything. Second, how new is your game? If it's 2008 or newer it's already fully patched. You can check by starting up the game. In the lower right-hand corner of the load screen it should say which version it is.

And yes, if it says 1.3 out of the box, it's fully patched to 1.4.

Rgr that...one of the biggest gaffs that was never rectified.
