Crash bug?

Decided to revisit SH4 and after spending a few days mucking about with missions to get back into things, I decided to start a career.

I started with USS Spearfish, a Sargo-class based with the Asiatic fleet in Manila. Everything went perfect, lag was at a minimum. After a nice night hunting merchants in the Luzon strait, I closed down the laptop.

The next time, I opened it up. It had ran out of charge but I recharged it. I opened up SH4 and everything was good so far. Intro ran. Got to the menu and loaded my save.

The load completed but I got a black screen which crashed to the desktop. It then crashes for everything. No career, war patrol or missions. It can only be fixed with an uninstall and re-install.

Anybody got a solution?

Post your computer specks and what version of the game and any mods.
Without these we are just shooting in the dark.

Specs: I'll need to get them up but it's at least enough to run the game on low-medium without lag and reasonable frame rate on high.

Version: V1.3 I believe, stock game with no mods.

I did try a solution. I'll see if it works. I saved then exited the game to windows in case putting the computer into hibernation (closing it down) while the game is still on corrupts the data.

Can't swear to it, but I would think hibernating while any program is active would not be a good idea. That's especially true of one that has the high resource requirements SH4 does. Pause, save, exit.

Alas, yes. I belive that too. I saved and exited and when I check it later, I will see if it works. :salute:

Don't know if you have a double post rule (not been on for a while till yesterday) but I have an announcement.

I tried to load but the same thing happens. Saving and exiting has the same effect. I checked the specs and everything is fine.

I believe a bug is afoot. :hmmm:

Latest patch without UBoat Missions is 1.4. Adding Uboat Missions patches to 1.5. Before anything else, I would definitely patch the game and try again.

Ditto Here. 1.4 at least! Also, remember with SH4 to load the game on the C drive outside of program files. So: Instead of: C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SH4 you want C\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter4
Good Luck

very simple is because your battery died it corrupted your saved game so use the save you had prior to the last one so you go back before the point you were last at and it should be fine after that. its not the game its the saved game thats messed up

as others have said its best to update to v1.5 so buy the gold edition of the game and it comes witgh the ad-on since just buying the ad-on will cost about the same as buying the gold edition version for around $10

I tried that but it didn't work, sorry!

However, I will try and update the game and see how it goes!:yeah:
