Operation Monsoon
Afternoon lads, Right so in all my noobness. I actualy kept playing Silent hunter IV with the FOTR campaign. I never actualy bothered looking for other mods. However since the Operation Monsun mod seems to appealing to me I tought I wanted to give it a go. But I couldn't get any sence of direction on what to download exactly. And I've so far downloaded the v705 to get it started to see how it looks like
But yeah.. it doesn't work at all, can anyone be a dear and reply with working links to what exactly I need to download and in what order? |
Did you try to load OM 705 on top of FOTRS? That may have broken it right there. They are two different supermods, and use many of the same files.
You need to do separate intsalls of the game to run different supermods. The best way to control these is MultiSH4: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1110 OM 705 should work just fine on its own. Everything that comes after just makes it better. Lurker made his patches pretty easy to understand. The first would be OM 705_to_720. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1403 After that comes OMEGU 300, which is mostly an environment upgrade. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1336 |
Hey there
Thanks for the reply. However with the help of JSGME i deliberatly dissabled my FOTRS campaign before enabeling the OM. And even now when I enable OM, the game launches with the generic U boat missions background and when I get to my main menu, it's just the vanilla game. So.. I must be doing something wrong here EDIT: Ran trough the whole process again, downloaded the files, put them into the mod folder and activated them with the JSGME, and halfway in the loading screen, the game crashes. Sollutions? |
Bump,
I really want to give this mod a try, but I'm pretty much helpless right now. And I'm in dire need of tips or know-how |
So, you're wanting to try Operation Monsun? You probable already know that the mod is basicly a German U-Boat mod. If you're looking to mod the American Campaign, don't use OM, there are better mods specific for that side of SH4.
Here's the JSGME "activation" order you should have on the right side of the screen using the basic OM mod: OpsMonsun_V705 OMv705_to_V720 OMv720_Patch 5 These three mods can be found under the "Mega Mods" page of the SH4 "Downloads" menu of this forum. You'll need to download all three mods, and in the "order" indicated, to bring Operation Monsun up to the latest version. You said you didn't see any difference? Yes, that's true. There is no noticeable difference. The main game screen won't show anything different from stock....either during the loading phase, or at the main game page. How you can tell if OM is loaded is by looking in the "Single Missions" menu page. There will be many additional missions for the German side of play listed here. These are from Operation Monsun. Also, if you start a German Campaign you'll be taken to the European Theater, not the Pacific for your home base. If you want to use an additional environmental mod, with a completely different TDC interface for manual targeting.......use the following mods: OpsMonsun_V705 OMv705_to_V720 OMv720_Patch 5 OMEGU_v300 OMEGU_v300_Patch 7 These two additional mods are found along with the others. Using the OMEGU v300, and its Patch 7, you will have a different loading screen, and additional images while at the main game screen (telling you things are different with the mods loaded). Quote:
One thing you'll need to check.......are there any leftover/changed files in the stock game? Remove all mods with JSGME. It's ok to leave them in the left side of JSGME. You just want them to be "deactivated" from the main game files. At the JSGME page, open the "Tasks" menu page and have JSGME "Compare Snapshot". This will check the current game files/folders with the "Snapshot" you took when you first installed JSGME to SH4. Didn't take a "Snapshot"? You're up Poop Creek without a paddle! You need to take a "Snapshot" of your game files before you every load your first mod. Should have been done just after a clean install of the game, and just after installing JSGME. The main game files could have unwanted leftover mod files in the game. In spite of JSGME's best efforts, it could have left some files behind throwing off the main game system. One of the easiest ways of having this happen is removing a mod out of sequence in JSGME. In other words, removing a mod that's the fourth in line when there are mods in the fifth and sixth order after it. Mods need to be removed in the order you placed them. So, to remove the fourth mod in a list of six, you should always remove the sixth, then the fifth mod, before removing the mod you wish to delete. Yes, JSGME has some mods "greyed" in color to let you know those particular mod files have been overwritten by another mod. But this isn't always the case. It tries to keep track of every file that's changed, but you'll throw a monkey wrench into the works by removing a mod out of sequence. Removing a mod out of order will sometimes leave files behind. That's why the documentation of JSGME asks you to take a "Snapshot" of your clean main game files for future reference. Believe me, if JSGME was fool proof, they would not have needed to put in the Snapshot feature. |
Thanks for the quick reply,
I am feeling pretty much lonely and lost on poop creek without paddle indeed. However, I launched OM OpsMonsun_V705 and that brings me past the loading screen, and into the main page, however after following your advice, I checked the single mission page, or the Quick mission page and I didn't see any missions relating to OM. at the german campaign it shows the stock harbors for the pacific theatre, not the atlantic. Pehaps I think A clean uninstall and re install is in order, and then try again, Cause according to your info I have the right files. |
With Operation Monsun you'll have these missions found on the Quick Missions menu page:
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ckMissions.jpg They may not say their OM related, but they are. The stock game doesn't have any Quick Missions listed.....NONE, it's a blank screen. Notice on this first mission the details message says your leaving Wilhelmshaven, that's in the European Theater alright! As I said, if you start a U-Boat Campaign with OpsMonsun_V705 you'll be taken to your home base in Kiel, start date Sept. 2, 1939. If your using the stock game you'll go to Penang, June 2, 1943. Two very different locations and dates. If you have the mod loaded and your getting something different, then there is either a chance the files aren't getting loaded correctly, or your main game files have been corrupted some how. Good luck |
Alright, Everything's up and ready. I re installed from scratch.
Everything's working and it's all working fine, or is it? whenever I select a patrol time from the campaign, it doesn't let me advance because there's no primary objective. and forces me to click back. Is this normal or something? |
Is there any mod to have the SH3 flag(Flaggen) chart to be able to identify Allied, Neutral or Axis targets?

Sure, I know how to get it loaded......I've even made a mod specific for it. But, I wouldn't know any details about the game itself. I prefer the Pacific with the American Campaign. You may try posting in the SubSim "SH4 ATO Mods" or, "SH4 U-Boat Missions Add-On" threads. These specific areas get a lot of attention for those using Operation Monsun, or the German side of play in SH4. |
It looks very interesting:hmmm:. The discharge as soon as possible, because even with other versions of Tirpitz 1.0 Monsum I'm having difficulty:/\\!!. I hope this goes well. I'll let you know if function:up:
