RAF Museum Hendon (28-10-12) pic heavy
Went to Hendon yesterday with three friends and despite the 560 mile round trip it was a memorable day and a lot of fun.
As those of you who have previously visited will know, the lighting conditions in some areas make photography a challenge but I done my best with what limited photography skills I have. http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/3503/42626402.jpg http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/9877/87120516.jpg http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/5812/77943871.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/8862/99030602.jpg http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/6772/59509143.jpg http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/4291/98192412.jpg http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/483/59985580.jpg |

Looks like you were there on a busy day. We went last year on a bright, crisp December morning and almost had the place to ourselves all day. |

Half term...you should have seen it over at the Excel center...made Bank at rush hour look tame in parts.

Nice shoots given the conditions.
I notice that the Hunter has Arabic lettering on an old Jordanian Hunter I am guessing so by the pattern.I wonder if it was assigned to a RAF unit then transferred to RJAF unit then re-acquired as a static display. I was looking at Google earth the other at day my old training base Sheppard AFB Texas I left there long ago in 1995 and came back later for a week for an NCO course.Anyway the dorms there where long in the tooth even in the 90's they had no air conditioning in Texas mind you and I was there in the summer time in 1995. On each corner they had a static display my squadron had an F-105 the rest where other "century series" jets anyway they tore down the old dorms and the new ones are not on the old footprints but rather a few hundred yards away so now the old static displays are sitting on empty corners with a large open area between them and any other structure it looks a bit funny from the Google earth point of view. I found out a few years ago that the F-105 on display at Sheppard AFB flew several hundred missions during Vietnam over North Vietnam and also Laos. |
Nice, Jim. I looked last night but didn't see the Bloodhound until this morning? Great memories of visits to North Cotes just a few miles down the coast, and to the Bloodhound HQ at West Raynham.
