Airplane Sounds Audible

Maybe this has always been an issue, and I just never noticed it before (hard to imagine), but lately, I'm noticing that I can hear airplanes plain as day, flying above me after I crash dive. Even getting down to 70m while hanging out in the control room, the sound is the same as if we were surfaced and I was standing on the bridge.

It's killing my suspense. :stare: Has anyone else had this issue? I did not find any threads that dealt with this in particular.

There's a partial list of my active mods in my signature.

I can sometimes hear aircraft's sound, too but it doesn't bother me. I'm not good at physics and acoustics but I can imagine the propeller of an aircraft (which is much louder than a marine propeller) roughly above you in low altitude could be heard inside a submerged U-boat just as the screw of a surface vessel. It's still a question that why the sound is the same loud on the surface and on 70 meters. :hmmm:

Hanging sound file perhaps?

I've been having issue recently with "Wave Bad Weather.wav" hanging which results in the sound being audible regardless of being surfaced or submerged. Can go external while submerged at 85m and still hear the sound playing near the front of the boat.

I've had the same issue with the alarm bell where it refuses to shut off, surfaced or submerged. The constant incessant ringing makes further play uncomfortable to the ears.:/\\!!

The only cure is to end the current patrol, return to base, and start the next one. Reverting to an earlier save for that alarmed patrol (NOT the career) doesn't fix it.

It's not a hanging soundfile in my case – the sound reacts properly to the position of the plane, with the engine sound telling me it's incoming, and audible doppler effect telling me it's outgoing. I always know when a bomb or depth charge will fall.

I've had the same experience in SH4. It was just as you describe.

I have no idea if it is realistic or not. It did strike me as odd though. I can't recall ever having read anything about this sort of thing. :hmmm:

Computer/Game maybe thinks you're still on the surface/on the surface and on the bridge. Engine sound bugs me at times because the volume doesn't always lower like it should when I go from the bridge to the Command room. May even be the cause of my wave sound issue.

I try to avoid issuing diving/crash diving commands while "standing" on the bridge or in external cam for this reason. I've also found pausing and unpausing sometimes helps...at least I have with the volume level problem.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot next time.
