NewUIs_TDC_6_3_7_ByTDW dont load
Guys i am tackling with mods for a couple of days now, tried various combinations which can be accepted by my PC, i installed all kinds of mods like Real Environment - Revision_3, OPEN HORIZONS II_full v2, HiDef Realistic Interface V2.1, small stopwatch, ruler mods with JSGME, no problem in any of them. Game version updated to 1.2.0
But when it comes to NewUIs_TDC_6_3_7_ByTheDarkWraith, it has no effect on the game even i installed it and also real navigation version at the same time, still map is full of contacts and no new UI.. Please help to find the problem, i am nearly going nuts as i cannot start to play the game without finding my mod config and this UI MOD is indispensable for me :-( SI. I also tried NewUI_0_2_0_ByTheDarkWraith, shame it does not work also.. SI 2. I tried NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith but it does not unzip complete due to a long file name error, i understand for Win XPs it has a limit of 233 char limit on file names. I guess this mod is optimized for Win 7 :-( |

Ahoy Duner,
When you go to download the UI (7.1) Does it download , or will your system not download the file at all?! If it will download, I may be able to help you open it. If it doesn't download at all there may still be a light here. One of my computers is XP and I never had this severe of a problem with file names. TDW's UI doesn't really have that long of a name so there may be hope here. Anyway, the problem sounds familiar and I'm checking for the fix. Fingers crossed. D40:hmmm: PS; Duner, also, try shortening the name of the Parent directory or any other paths that you can. You might get lucky as it might be just a question of a few characters... |
Thanks volodya, i have installed them seperately, so the reason cannot be that. i will try again with 7 zip and report here immediately.
Dogfish i am puzzled also as it was a first time error for me. i guess something wrong but where.. All help is welcome and ny fingers crossed:-) Many thnks.. I also downloded now magnum opus just to see if its UI is working on my PC, I will report result here.. Keep tuned :-) |
Now results..
First 7-zip managed to extract the file TO C:/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 5/MODS, ***304; installed the mod with JSGME, run the game, unfortunately no change in stock UI :-( Dogfish, i tried to delete the file NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_TheDarkWraith from another folder in which i extracted by mistake, gave me error "cannot delete due to long file name", i used your advise and made all file names numbers (1, 2 ,3 ETC) and voila, deletion successful so you are correct. I also installed magnum opus and run the game, flags in bunker and command room graphics changed, galley is changed, new lines in crew dialogue appeared but Uboat command, periscope and map UIs are still stock.. Any help welcome.. |

I'll check back... PS: Please post your mod list in order as well. There might be something there...If the file Unzips, then I can't understand why it would not unzip the whole file or download the whole file. (I'm not ignoring the file extension problem but I want to check anything that could be a problem here) By the way, one more question; What is the size of the downloaded zip files ( the 7.1 UI and the 6.8UI) ?? After you have them on your drive. If they are the correct size zipped, then the whole file should be there. I'll compare to my files. Thanks D40 D40 |

The main reason for it, and I suspect that is your problem, that many mods come in various "flavours": inside of the main folder they might havemultiple other mods. You have to make sure that when you place mods into /MODS/, the folder structure is ALWAYS as follows: ...\'your SH5 Install Folder'\MODS\'Name-of-the-mod'\data\ So, the best practice is to: 1) extract mods into a pre-designated folder 2) go to that folder >> to your mods folder that you extracted 3) find the actual mod in that folder: following the above rule it will be the folders with next folder as \data\ 4) copy this folder to your \MODS\ folder 5) enable with JGSME Here is a very good tutorial on how to install mods: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...7&postcount=26 |
Woot, SS - you are awesome! I was looking for your screenshot-post, when you re-posted it!
Here, this is an awesome explanation: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=9417 |

NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_TheDarkWraith is 67,6 mb. I just checked 7.1.0 file size from media fire its 67,65 so all is there i guess.. 6.3.7 size is 34.26 MB so thats ok also.. My original mod list is in post "UPDATED MUST-HAVE MOD SUGGESTIONS " (long list i do not want to take space here..) + i have no problem on that list except UI mods.. I am installing UI mods one by one lately and problem remains.. |
Avelany, message understood and that might really be the problem, i will try solution and report here..
|
Avelany i cannot possibly thank you enough, i have now NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith UI with all details..
After six days of mod-wrestling, I am free to make open sea for my mod training exercises and surely to "sink them all". Many thanks again Avelany and to all that are so helpful. You are a great bunch :-) |

Remember that there are many options that you can change in that UI with the help of OptionFileEditorViewer app that comes with the UI. For more details and how-to's you can check out sober's mod list (there are some good information and tutorials in there) and the Multiple UIs Mod thread itself in the SH5 Mods Workshop forum. :salute: |
