The Apps Thread
So, any good apps you can recommend? List them here, be sure to include links, platform (Apple, Android, etc), and what you like about them.

Android and iPhone - Battleships, or Sea Battle as they've now called it. (Don't forget their Tic Tac Toe Wargame also) :D
Tapatalk, so you're never far away from Subsim. Android - Tuner g-string (guitar tuner, stepson uses it lots). Violin tuner (wife). Metal detector (magic, but it works!). Opera web browser. Electro Droid (do anything with electrics whatsoever this is your app!). Strava (cycling/running app, great for competing with random others). Ebay/Amazon. Camera 360 - great for non-standard arty photos. Chemistry Clock (tell the time in accordance to the periodic table e.g. 8:19 will read Oxygen Potassium). What else do I use? Hotmail, Gmail, Google Search, Maps, weather apps, Lookout Security, TS3 Remote (see who's speaking on TS without an overlay on top of your game), Steam, spirit level, task killer, BBC iPlayer (TV, on your phone ). I'm sure most is available for the iPhone too. I've not paid for any app so far after nearly three years of using an Android OS. |
Very cool, yes, I will need to get tapatalk and Gmaps.
What is the bar code squares thing? |

I guess I should post some recommendations.
All these I use on my android tablet. Pocket Stalin NASA's Daily Astronomy Photo TappiApps has several nice "Name That XXXXXX" apps with a military theme. |

NPR is essential for me. The app itself is buggy and not too stable, which is a shame, but it does index all the programs and stories once the audio gets uploaded. FlightRadar24 Pro - This is one I have gladly paid for and would recommend to anyone who gazes at contrails :) LiveATC - Live ATC feeds from around the world, 'nuff said :D Trippit - This one is very very handy for trips and holidays if you newed to keep track of a lot of booking references or streetmaps. And the usual news apps from NYT, Politico, BBC, AlJazeera, The Irish Times. EDIT - Oh, all the above are Android :) |
Opera mobile is best browser to read web pages due to text wrapping.
I like JetAudio for my music due to automatic gain control(between different tracks) and sound quality. Adobe pdf reader, office suite and some file browser if you have not pre-installed one. Skype, whatsapp. |
hi,
I'm an Android user : Opera mini for browsing, MX player for vids and chess.com if you play, also Comodo security for protection - I use their firewall on the PC. Regards |
Android, Offline Map and Navigation (especially oudtdoor: hiking/mountainbike etc.)
OsmAnd+: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...WFuZC5wbHVzIl0. It uses the OpenStreetMaps and provides you (without any charges) with an option to download maps and has even offline navigation, that is you do not need an Internet connection for using it. I can highly recommend it - even if the user interface is not optimal, yet. |
We need an app called "Un******* My Windows 10". :k_confused:
The new update will screw up your display settings and taskbars, AGAIN. Get used to a white task bar or go into permanent Night Mode and set the task bar color AGAIN. Forget about setting the task bar color in Daytime mode, you DON'T NEED IT I GUESS. |
