Ryder Cup
So I watch a bit o it yesterday, got hooked. That format really makes golf (more) enjoyable to watch. So I watch some of it this am. US was way ahead 10-6. So I go mow the lawn, played some games, ran some errands, came back to watch the last green.
What the hell happened???? |

Well, what happened was that an over-confident team 'supported' by the least sporting crowds I have ever seen could not handle the pressure, despite every advantage. Europe was down and out, but pulled together as a team, worked for each other, and pulled off one of the greatest sporting comebacks I have ever seen.
The fact that it was acheived in the face of that crowd made it all the sweeter. Priceless!!! |
Got to be one of the greatest come backs in sporting history :yep:

I don't understand, and don't know if I want to, how golfers can come together and work as a team. Surely the aim is to get the little white thing in the hole in a fewer whacks as possible. Every golfer, surely, should be trying for that? So where does the teamwork come in? If all the european ball-hitters hit their balls fewer times than their american opponents they'd have won, yeah? :hmmm:
|
As our American friends love to shout
"get in the hole" even on a par 5 tee off:hmmm: |
It was exciting, unexpected and well deserved. But to be honest this was a very close call and the U.S team seemed more solid.
But the ball is round, and round she is:O: |

I take it you've never witnessed the antics of the Aussie crowds during the Ashes when played down under :03: |

Because safari On my phone crashes within moments of tryIng to post a reply, I have to quickly post then edit. So if you see a few words posted that don't make sense, assume its either Reece or Yubba. If i posted it, then wait about 10 minutes and reload, I'm editing my post. As to HB, I really enjoyed the team match play, where two players shared a ball and took alternate shots. Didn't get to watch the 4 ball segment. That's what makes it a team sport. |

:har: Thanks for explaining, but the objective is still the same, hole the ball in as few his as possible - they may play together, but I'd not call it a team sport just yet. |
