Now that is cool. :salute:

Awesome!
I know they're in the process of rebuilding one at the Ottawa aviation museum which I go to every once in a while. I don't think it's to flying condition, but I've gone on their hangar tour and seen the bird - the fuselage of it is in good condition indeed. Mossies are fantastic! |
When i saw this, i was like, "What?! Mosquitos have been flying around my place for ages!"
Then I saw the plane. Seriously, though, the Mozzie's a good plane. One of my favourite things to do in Birds of Steel is a low-level ground attack with a flght of Mozzie's, and seeing Werhmacht troops firing a few ineffective shots at us! |
Good news indeed. :yeah:
Nice
always good to see that they still bring these birds back to the skies. HunterICX |
It's just a shame it's yet another one in NZ, although moving soon to Virginia Beach to joint the rest of Jerry Yagen's collection.

Have they gotten a Bf110 or JU-88 flying yet?
|
I'm glad it is up and flying again. It sort of surprises me that there aren't any others in flying condition. Especially when you think about how many were made. I know its not cheap to keep them in working order, but when I see pictures of Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lanc doing fly-bys over the UK in honor of those who fought during the Battle of Britain, I always wondered why you don't see a Mossie at that air show.
|
Well, eddie, between you, me and the gatepost, there's a rumour floating around that some Mossies were found in the Spitfire haul in Burma. I guess we'll see when they ship back what they've found. :yep:

I would love to be at an air show, and see 3 Mossies going by in formation! It would be something to behold I bet!

Crashed in '96

That was really tragic.
|
@ op; that is pretty cool. Did you ever read TinTIn as a kid ? In one of the "books" they had a whole collection of those planes; I think it was the one where the trio(front cover) is on a life raft with some guy who wears a patch over his eye.
