Nexus: the Jupiter Incident sequel on Kickstarter
Don't know how many of you played the fantastic though largely ignored classic sci-fi fleet tactics game "Nexus: the Jupiter Incident" on its release 9 years ago but many of the original team have reformed to create a sequel and are looking for funding on over Kickstarter.
Interestingly their next project after the original Nexus was the strategy simulation "Midway", which unfortunately was retooled by Eidos into the arcadey "Battlestations Midway" when the studio was taken over. The original concept for Midway was much more of a fleet tactics based simulator akin to Microprose "Task Force 1942" than what Eidos eventually turned the game into. It would be great if after Nexus 2 is developed the team would return to the original Midway concept and develop it the way it was originally planned. |
Holy Cow...! :o The video from 4:20 on! :timeout:
If this makes it through, I'm hooked. |
Never played but watched some gameplay on YT when someone metioned it a while ago. Which reminds me, you can grab it on GoG: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/nexus...piter_incident
Or Steam, if you prefer. Great to see them doing a sequel, makes me wish I had a creditcard... need to look into that. :hmmm: * Oh, incidentally: http://www.gog.com/news/mod_spotligh...piter_incident |
The first Nexus was actually on sale at gog.com few days back for $3, forgot to get it then. :-?

I first Googled for ensuring compatability with W7, then got a copy for 5 Euros at German Amazon. From what I read I expect a steep learning curve, but that must not be a bad thing.

Ive play NTJI great game, i remember what hit me the most was the detail for a game back then it was epic! And battles were a bit on the slow side, never got round to finishing it though and lost the cds ages ago.

I really hope the new Nexus gets founded!
Love the first one and still play it. But by the look of it, the Kickstarter is going way too slow!:nope: |
As I found out, there are several good-looking mods for the first Nexus. You can find movies at Youtube showing Star Trek, Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica (new series) using the Nexus engine.
