A Red Flare

I turned guns on a contact heading back to port (no torpedo's left) and as I started shelling the ship a red distress flare was shot up into the sky. I thought that was pretty cool. Never seen that before. :yeah:

I've never seen a red distress flare form any Allied ship. And I've sunk quite a few with the deck gun after running out of torpedos, especially single ships. What was the ingame date and port were you near? Could this be a part of a mod or mega mod?

I'm surprised no one else has asked about this too.

I believe it is part of a mod (or at least in one of the mods it was made work properly).
But I can't remember which....

It was in the first Baltic mission and the ship was a Polish freighter. I wasn't sure which mod it was so I'm glad others chimed in. This has happened twice so far - it really is pretty cool to watch.

Thanks to TDW.

Ahhhh, that's why I've never seen a red flare.... I don't have any of TDW's good mods installed. I guess I'm too old to learn new tricks to install his mods. I've tried and tried but they never work. It's part of the reason I've had to reinstalled SH5 so many times.

Someday, if I persevere enough, I hope to get them working.

What mods do you have installed GT:06:

Trevally. 09-27-12 02:51 PM

I can send you a link for a download with TDWs FX, UI and IRAI all merged into one folder that you can just drop straight into your MODS folder and with one click, enable with JSGME.
It will have the options file ready set to my settings.

I can also send you a pre-made folder with TDWs patched files. Again this is ready to just drop into your MODS foler and click install.

Trev, I'd really appreciate them both. Do you want my email address? I can PM it to you.

Activated mod list.....

GT182 09-27-12 09:25 PM

Just going OT a wee bit..... forgive me.

Well, I'm 62 and 6 months away from being 63. Probably not the oldest here on SubSim but there are days I sure feel it. I've been here off and on since around 2004 or so. Only 2 websites I really call home these days... SubSim and the Pontiac forum I belong to. SH3 and 5 are the two reasons I came back from a hiatus.... or I might have as may posts as Steve and Jim. ;) LOL Just kidding guys.... you've both worked hard here on Sub Sim. As everyone else has too.

March, eh? Well congratulations - you seem to have me beat by about a month. :sunny:
