invisable destroyers

Just had a Destroyer show up right on top of me. I knew he was in the area, I picked him up on the hydrophone but never could find him in my scope. after about 3 or 4 360 sweeps, boom, there he is right on top of me and flinging trashcans at me to boot!
It seems improbable that a destroyer could get that close to me without being spotted!
calm seas and clear night too.

is this a bug, or was it just a hazard of the trade?

A hazard of the trade....he could have been in your baffles (the stern area where you can't hear for the noise of your own propellors).

I figured that was the case. I was going to pull an AoD tactic and ambush him but he was on me before I could even get my outer doors open
man I love this game!:yeah:

Those could be my words :salute:

One major thing that separates SH3 from other simulations I have played is that even with the game engine's limitations the element of surprise is still there. Even after years of play the AI now and then still manages to catch you with your pants down :ping:
