Need help with cursor key

Hey all
For the life of me I cannot find the key for the on and off surface cursor for your submerged submarine

Bueller? :)

(If I understand you right) -- there is no such thing :D If you want to remove it, find umark.tga (or .dds) file.

I believe the cursor when you are submerged that shows in the water is what I'm talking about Mine is gone

stanger 09-03-12 05:55 PM

then get it back :) Its gone because - probably - it was removed by one of mods you installed, and if you did it using jsgme, then go to mods folder > backup, and search for "umark"; it will have its extension renamed, for example: if it was removed \replaced by TMO25 mod, then its full name in jsgme backup folder would be "umark.ddsTMO25", just change its name back to "umark.dds", and copy-paste it back to data\misc folder.

(or maybe removed files dont get backed up by jsgme? not sure)

:/\\!!Where is the JG back up folder,
I did try to remove the unmark.dds but still no cursor so i put it back. All i want is my submerged cursor back, i'm not good enought with out it

OK, first things first: are you using JSGME and any mods? If yes, then name them.
Some mods replace this file with empty one to remove sub mark (so, you would still have umark.dds file present in your game directory), others are removing this file completely (I think TMO does that, but may be wrong, dont have it installed right now).
If you are using JSGME to install mods, then a Backup folder is in MODS folder, but hidden - to show hidden folders\files in Windows OS go to Folder options (it is named different depending on Windows version), View tab and check "Show hidden folders and files" (or something along those lines). You can also set "Hide extensions of known file types" (uncheck) in the same place; this will allow you to see file extensions.

I am only using tmo 2.5 and juse jsgme

conmcloud 09-05-12 05:00 PM

I did what you said now the Misc folder in back up shows it empty

conmcloud 09-05-12 05:04 PM

also the file you are speaking of is just unmark.dds it doesnt say the tmo25 part

stanger 09-06-12 09:53 AM

I don't have SH4 installed right now (im after new Windows installation and am too lazy to start with all that modding:P), but if you are using TMO then it is possible that it just removes umark.dds completely instead of replacing it (normal thing for jsgme ready mods: replacing files, backup goes to mods>backup folder) and - it looks like from your case - JSGME doesnt make backup of removed (instead of replaced) files. So, to have it back and avoid reinstallation of entire game, ask someone on this forum to send it to you. It can be even from SH5, cause its the same.

Wait a minute:

umark.dds in Data\misc or MODS\!Backup\Data\Misc (or similar)?

Deactivate TMO and pull it from the stock game, paste it back in TMO or make a small mod so you can later deactivate it, rather than TMO.

That would be too much pain to just get one file.
You can use mine (found it on some old dvds with sh4 stuff, and redone it a little bit in Ps):

UMARK

I agree, but no one as of yet offered to put it up for DL. Still, he will either have to make a mod of it or deactivate TMO to install in TMO.
