I believe it's time to get a new radio man...

OR a hearing aid for the current radio man.

Not really, it could be that he tried to listen as you were still above 10 meters depth. Above that the hydrophone doesn't work. Any chance you did a dive to periscope depth?

NOW there is no sound contact.

For some reason, It seems like I'm always at this depth when I order periscope depth. Should it be deeper? I'll keep it in mind, less than 10 meters for the hydro.

Thanks!

I usually level out at 12 meters with GWX3. But there are some bobs up and down before I get there.

Mods might be the cause if they change the periscope depth level command. But it might also depend on your speed, and slight positive or negative buoyancy of your sub. Again, most likely mod dependent.

Maybe he was just very tired? I had a situation where my sonar guy had like 1/10 of his endurance bar and he couldn't hear most of the contacts.

Periscope depth 10 meters is a normal depth for a type II. I would think that the soundman is too unexperienced or tired or both.

Was your periscope up the whole time? The soundman goes to sleep when the periscope is up.

That's probably it. I'm using no fatigue, because I believe that there would be people on the boat who's job it was to ensure the crew is rotating appropriately. I could be wrong, but I like my assumption.

Incidentally... when you say periscope.... Is that that tall pole at the top of my ship? I thought it was a flagpole! :D

He's probally fallen asleep from you yackking away in his ear. :har:

He can't listen to you and attacking escorts at the same time. :03:
