U-boat bases and bunkers 1941-45 (Download)

Hi there
Not sure where to share this - mods feel free to move... :)

https://rapidshare.com/#!download|23....pdf|16963|0|0

Little pdf booklet (16mb) free to download. Good info and amazing photographs, some in colour!

Enjoy!

Is this copywrited material? If so, sharing it at all is not only illegal but against Subsim policy.

Probably open for interpretation but my take:

It has been uploaded on 8 sites, deemed free to view, and does not appear to be blatant piracy as does a cd-crack, for example.

The active copyright specifically allows for "private study, research, criticism or review..."

Word-of-mouth not regarded as distribution as download is by private individual (I'll remove offer to e-mail).

However, if Subsim does not agree, then my apologies and please remove my post.

Regards

R

I just checked, and Osprey says it's still in print and still for sale, so I would guess it is a copyright infringement to get it for free.

So....

If i come up with links for those that are uboot fans to watch classic submarines movies is that also considerate "copyright infringement"????

I love to watch movies all kind, included U boot movies, like Runs Silent Runs Deep, U 157, Das Boot, Torpedo Alley, Down Periscope, The Battle Of Coral something...Lady Gray Down? and many other movies....

I have a Haddrive loaded 7% from maxed out(otherwise i cant defrag the disk) Full of all kind of movies so i can watch it at work, to terminate the boredom... specially in the beginning, when i found the site, i download in weeks total of 40GB...

What happens on YouTube is YouTube's business. I have seen them take down things that were deemed to be infringement.

I understand, and what you or I do is our business. Subsim has a strict policy because of Neal's personal relationship with the game companies. I'm not sure exactly what his take or the official take is on non-game-related subjects, but people have been permanently banned for taking the same line of argument that you are now. I'm not passing judgement myself, but you might want to ask Neal or one of the main moderators about this before pursuing it too much further.

As a rule of thumb, if the legality of something like a copyright or other issue pertaining to distribution rights is "open to interpretation", then it is probably a good idea to err on the side of caution. I will echo what Steve said. What you put on your hard drive is entirely up to you. What you choose to link to on the forums is another matter. This is a private forum, and Neal's rules must be respected.

Glad we are in agreement, then.
