Why do Destroyers dis-engage sub search?
 

Does anyone have a clue as to when/why destroyers dis-engage sub hunt after sub sinks merchants etc?

Are the Destroyers out of Depth-charges?
Do they need to reserve depth-charges for future hunts?
How many depth-charges does a Destroyer carry?
Do they need to get back to task-force to resume protection?
Allowed a maximum distance from task-force then need to return?
Gave up Sub search due to lost contact?

I still can`t figure out why they give up quickly and at other times they hang on forever, then I run out of oxygen...you know the rest.
