OMG!!
:o
That's the first song I learned to play back in the day.
It also brings back memories that send shivers up my spine everytime I hear it.

RIP Mate!

A great musician in a great group...

(I'll even forgive you for "Smoke on the Water"; ask any music store employee who has had to spend day after day listening to various players of various skill playing those opening chords over and over...)

RIP Jon...

First LP I ever bought was Made In Japan back in 1973 I think.

It's a very sad day for a long time Purple fan like myself.

I was a fan years before "that song". My favorite era was the first one, with Rod Evans on vocals, and my favorite song was their cover if a good Neil Diamond song, with a great organ solo by The Lord himself!

Sure. They also did 'Blackbird', 'And Your Bird Can Sing' and 'This Bird Has Flown'.

Are you sure it wasn't the Eagles or the Byrds?...

Black Crowes? Counting Crows? The Yardbirds?

Maybe it was Charlie Parker.
