Crew shift changes

So I gave in to the people saying that SH3 with GWX Gold is the real deal and bought it yesterday, installed GWX today. Now I've got a question regarding crew shifts. In SH4 there is this handy feature where 3 shifts are changing workload every 4 hours automatically, but I failed to find this feature in SH3 so far. Do I need to change my crew every few hours manually each time?

Either yes, or get SH3 Commander (and relevant GWX configure file from Jimbuna's sig) and set it so they never tire.

As the boss it's not your job to ensure the crew are on watch when they should or shouldn't be, you have more important jobs.

Search for a 'No Fatigue' mod. I think all the major mods have this installed.
OR
In your xx\Gamename\data\cfg folder, open the Basic.cfg file with notepad and edit the values under the [FATIGUE_COEF] section..

You can also do the crew types individually bit it's a mission...
:)

Thanks, guys. I downloaded two SH3 Commander files from jimbuna and set crew to no fatigue. Already enroute to grid BF16 in U-48. :salute:

Kudos to jimbuna BTW.

Just noticed that fatigue bar is still going down although I double checked whether "no fatigue" option is applied.

Is this a previous career? I think it only takes effect with a new career.

That was a new career.

Okay, Plan B. Oh wait - I don't have a plan B. It should work. It did for me. I'm not sure what it could be.

I launched the game via shortcut, not via SH3 Commander. Maby that was the reason as "roll back changes" was set on SH3 Commander by default.

That'll do it. Commander only works when you load using Commander.

Slightly different question this time. Currently my U-45 is enroute to designated quadrant. So far I have sunk 12485 of British merchant shipping expending only 3 eels. After reporting my status I got a radio message addressed to a rather hefty amount of boats among which was mine. This message is directing some boats to go to Wilhelmshaven or Kiel and for some boats to report weather between 0300 and 0600. Should I make way to Kiel immediately without proceeding with my initial objectives or should I make way to Kiel once I reached the initial objectives and/or expended my torpedos/fuel?

Also just got another radio message ordering my boat to patrol north third between Iceland and Farroes. Should I drop my current objectives and patrol the designated area immediately? How will not completing initial objectives fare on my renown and career in general?

As has been stated in previous threads, those radio messages are eye candy only. Ignore them.

Sailor Steve 07-14-12 11:22 AM

Initial objectives: Patrol grid XXXX for 24 hours. This was a holdover from the original plan for SH3, which was to have everything be mission-based. In real life you would be told to go to grid XXXX and stay there until ordered to move. You might stay an an empty grid for weeks and never see anything. Reaching your patrol grid will award you some extra renown in the stock game. In GWX it will not. Staying there for 24 hours would get you some extra renown in the stock game. In GWX it will not.

In the game you can pretty much do what you want. Orders mean next to nothing. As Gargamel said, most of the radio messages are there just to make you feel like you're not alone. On the other hand they do come from real radio messages sent during the war, so I always follow them, even if it means going somewhere there are no ships. It happended in real life. I do ignore the messages telling me my boat was sunk.

Thanks, guys.

Is it normal that I'm getting radio messages while in periscope depth with or without periscope being raised? Current situation is the following - it's 1939-08-30, my U-11 is submerged in Danzig Bay for 2nd day waiting for the hostilities to commence.

P.S. I noticed that under periscope depth settings for Type 2A it's tower is mere centimeters away from the surface and parts of that circular thing (presumably radio receiver) sometimes flash out of the water for a mere second. Could it be the reason for me getting those radio messages?
