Stones Roll into 50 Year Anniversary...
 

On July 12, 1962, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Mick Jagger performed for the first time as a new band, The Rolling Stones. Later they would be joined by Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman. The basic core of the Stones lives on, rocks on, and proves that "Rock and Roll never forgets" and will never die. Thanks for the great soundtrack, guys. Its been a great show so far...

Only time I saw 'em live was when they came to Utah in '94. I do remember when 'Satisfaction' hit the airwaves in '65 though. :rock:

I've been fortunate enough to have seen them a few times, the first when Brian Jones was still in the group. The concert I liked the best was the 1969 Tour performance in the Oakland Coliseum. The opening act was Terry Reid, who was a journeyman singer guitarist who a minor a few hits in England, but never broke big in the US. The next act was a full set by B.B. King and his full band. After B.B., the Ike & Tina Turner Revue did their full set. Lastly, the Rolling Stones came on and gave an amazing set and all with just their amps and durmset, no fancy sets or pyrotechnics. The only innovation was the use of Jumbotron screens for the first time to show the action on stage to the full stadium audience (an idea of promoter Bill Graham). All this talent and showmanship was all for the price of about $10.00 US. Imagine how much it would cost today...

Yup.. Hats off to the lads, IMHO they always were better than the Beatles. It's only rock'n'roll but I like it :rock:

I was a wide eyed twelve year old when they first came on the scene. They sparked an interest in R&B and the blues that has lasted to this day. I also started playing guitar to their music.

That was, at once, a great and weird video. The Stones had forgotten that Charlie had to sit down to play, so, when the foam/suds sarted to pour onto the set, Charlie, being the great stoic he is, continued to play as his head disappeared benath the incoming wave. The expressions of surprise and mirth by the other band members toward the end of the video are very real as they realized Charlie was being engulfed...

I still believe that between '69 and about '74 they were the greatest rock n roll band of all time.

My wish would be for their 50th anniversary concert turns into a 50th anniversary world tour ,I'd be lining up for a ticket right now if that happened:D
