STEAM issue and question
Yo, I have had Steam for a long time, but today when I tried to open it, it tries to update but fails. I uninstalled Steam, redownloaded and installed it. Ta-da! Working. But...
during the install, I tried to put it in the original Steam folder, and it would not proceed, saying it had to be in an empty folder. So I put it in Steam 2. Now, when I view my games library, it wants to install the games again. Aren't they already on the PC in the original folder? How can I tell Steam to stop messin around and find those games?? |
Close Steam, cut and paste old folder into new folder, restart Steam and verify game files before playing.

I did the same just to move Steam to my secondary drive. Worked like a champ for me.

If all else fails steam support can be very helpful I used them once before and it did take one full day to get a replay but they where very helpful after they contacted me.

I've recently been having a lot of troubles either buying direct from the Steam store with my credit card, or adding funds to my "Steam Wallet". It just comes up unknown error and doesn't work.
I've sent in a few support tickets for the last 2 months and haven't had any word from them yet. Anyone ever had problems like this? |
Nope, but I use Paypal to purchase my games from Steam and purchased Wargames yesterday without any problems.
Have you tried searching their forums? perhaps there are more people that have the same problem. HunterICX |

Regardless, issues with Steam payment transactions/crediting are always HTTPS protocol issues. |

Didn't work, some files would not copy. I think I'll wipe out both steam folders and start over.

But really, this is annoying. I had this problem earlier trying to use a VISA gift card. Returned the card, got a new one and it worked fine. Now it's not accepting my card due to "unknown error" when I used it to buy things just the other day on Steam... And I tried letting all Steam apps through firewall and even turning my firewall off. Still nothing. |
