This has really made me thankful for JSGME

I need a break from SH 4 so decided to try out a flight sim.I used to play CFS II years ago and loved it but left before the thousands(literally) of mods came out for it or before I was aware.I did not do much gaming until a couple years back when got into SH 4.Anyway, seeing can fly a slew of planes in different theaters etc I decided to load up CFS II.I located a "USS Essex" campaign that seems great. After going over the readme, really dawned on me what a task it is, changing all the various files, installing the ships and planes must have to go with the campaign.I am sure it will be worth it but wow what a pain it is, esp when some modders were so vague in their readmes. Also, the flight sim community seems a less bit organized or detail oriented in some cases.I have ordered IL-2 1946(with the add ons) I hope it works with JSGME because manual installation is a real pain.I know it will be worth it but :damn:

Anyone still run CFS II? Please PM me, I have questions.

It's easy to think that JSGME = Silent Hunter mod utility.

However while throwing "JSGME" around the forums so much, i think many forget what the letters mean. Jones Soft Generic Mod Enabler.

With a couple exceptions (like the "Complete" mods for Stalker), I use JSGME on just about every game im running a mod with, including elder scroll games like Skyrim.

I understand the generic part.I just figured it most likely will not work with an older sim such as CFS II, since most of the readmes are dated as recent as many of the SH 4 mod readmes and not mention of JSGME is made, sure would be nice though.Seems I fouled up replacing some files(vague readme) gave me the wrong idea, now have to start over.

Might get some help with CFS2 here-these guys are still updating a lot of things for the old sim, including updating older campaigns with new models and scenery.

JSGME can work with anything that involves moving files to folders as it is basically
an automated copy & paste tool.

Just figure out the directory structure in the vanilla game and re-create what you need in your JSGME mod folder. Should work fine with 99.9996% of the games out there--even old DOS games. :yep:

I'm running IL2-1946 and DBW 1.71 and JGSME works perfectly.
For more infos about IL-2 mods feel free to look at:

So any mods you would suggest? I tested out IL-2 stock , not bad but def can see some need for improvement.50 calls a little ineffective on IJN planes, damage model seems weird to me, in addition to the AA fire being deadly accurate all the time as well as enemy AI planes being able to go faster than they could in RL and pull moves off they couldnt.I assume there are fixes for this?
