Few questions about MODS
Hello!
Recently I have re-installed Sillent Hunter III onto my PC. Btw I am huge enthusiast for underwater boats from WW and WWII, I have played most games simulations since 1990 (starting at Commodore 64). So far, SHIII is best I have played (some features were better made in AOTD, but thats very old game). Now, lunching a game I have few questions, because I feel like SHIII is not accurate in many scenerios, and I have heard that some mods change the historical accuracy. 1. Weter problems - I experienced heavy storms with visability for 300-400 meters for many weeks, which aint to good imho. 2. Allied airplane activity since beginning of the campaing at 1939. - Currently Englang coast is COVERED (literally) with airplanes, which - doenst seem to fit 3. Worse lack of feature in SH III are WolfPacks and activity of other uboats. - I played that game back in 2005-2006 and never meet/saw/hear in radio about forming WolfPacks in any time of campaing - Nor I have heard any radio messages from other uboats according their positions, status - Lack of milkcows for in-sea refulement. 4. Very poor communication with BDU. Its like... I am in deep space without right to hear about convoys/wolfpacks/other important information. My question now is: Which mod/mods could (if its possible even) to partially/fully replace those lacks in game? Disclaimer: I have no experience with files modifications, I have read like 5 different forums sites about mods and found GWX 3.0 GOLD which download is broken (no files in game front?), and other mod was WAC 4.1, but seems like it need also, besides download and simply install, files manual file modyfication. I have never used any mods for any game - Just install game and click to play it. Anyone could help me a bit to enjoy SHIII with new features? Regards, Shameus |
First off, let me welcome you to the most salty forum on earth! :D
There are mods that address most if not all of the issues you mentioned. If you start with one of the mega-mods like: NYGM ; GWX Gold ; Living Silent Hunter ; you will have most of the things that were lacking in your Vanilla game. All of those Mega mods make Silent Hunter more accurate Historically and graphically better. They all have their own fix for the Weather. Better AI, better Planes and more ships and units and even simulated Wolfpacks. On top of that, we here at Subsim, kindly recommend the Patches and Realism Fixes for the sh3.exe provided by h.sie and Stiebler. Which will even more enhance your experience. Explore all the stickies on this board and you'll be ready to go.:salute: Propaganda out. :rotfl2: |

This mod will force it to stop raining. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=424 2. Allied airplane activity since beginning of the campaing at 1939. - Currently Englang coast is COVERED (literally) with airplanes, which - doenst seem to fit[/quote] GWX will fix that. There are a lot less planes. They are, however, much more dangerous, which is as it should be. Quote:

Cool I will try the Stop The Rain! mod, I've been stuck in a storm around the coast of West Scotland for over a week!
I live in the UK, and currently its 'summer', if only this mod worked in real life :hmmm: |
