Questions for Realism/Immersion

What speed did fleet boats sail at? I know it varied on the mission at hand but I'm looking for a general purpose kind of thing. I can't find anything on the web in particular. Were fleet boats setting sail at ahead standard or was that an integration-with-other-ships-speed? Ahead 2/3 maybe?

The most fuel efficient speed is 10 knots (roughly ahead 2/3rds). therefore, most boats would cruise at that speed and use other speeds at the captain's discretion.

Okay. That's kind of what I figured. Thanks for the quick reply, mate. And the information.

in game i beleive the most efficient is ahead standard, though i may be wrong. I think the increased speed makes up for the increased consumption.

IRL i have no idea, i defer to other skippers

The most efficient setting is ahead 1/3 (the second setting, between Slow and Standard). TMO changes it to Ahead Standard.

9.0 to 9.5 knots.

It's definitely ahead 2/3rds in TMO. I'm in a campaign right now and switching from ahead standard to ahead 2/3rds for cruising changed my 'distance to end of fuel' from 3,000nm to 8,000nm. Ahead 1/3rd gives less returns.
