SH III for steam help!
Having been a SH fan for a while now I decided to download SH III from Steam after losing the disk. The install went fine and when I pressed play it came up "failed to initialize 3D engine" after a quick google search I discovered SH III will not run on my computers current system (Windows 7) does anyone know how to make it run? PS hello I am new here!

Welcome aboard :salute:
SH3 definitely works with Windows 7, check through the stickies in the SH3 forum. |
Really? Shows not to trust the internet. Well anyway there must be something else. Other more advanced games work (SH 5 for example) like a dream with no lag. Other people say its a resolution glitch. I am kinda confused here.

Set resolution to 1024x768 and try again.
|
the highest my computer can go is 1024x600
|
NetBook? :hmmm:
All I can suggest is try an external monitor at that resolution and cross your fingers. Netbooks not renown for their gaming prowess even on old games. |
You'll be surprised what my little "midget sub" can do. But I don't understand what you mean by "external monitor"?
EDIT: After a little more snooping on Steam support I found out it has something to do with resolution but as mentioned before my resolution does not go that high. Can anyone help? |
An external monitor - a screen you can plug in to get a bigger picture (and greater resolution), off a desktop PC.
If there is the right connections on you 'midget sub' you should be alright - VGA: blue with lots of holes, DVI: white with lots of holes and a kind of cross shape at one side. |
YES!!!! Using a screen resolution glitch we are online! And this is where the hardware is coming in! No lag!!!

What is the screen resolution glitch - it may just help others! |
Believe it or not. It was on this very site!

And it is where?
