FFG Guns and Shore Targets
set up a quick mission with no defense. put a SAM site on shore and then hit it with guns ~ ended the mission after a short salvo ~
debrief stated target was undamaged... went back in and used the helo hellfire and backed out of mission. debrief stated target destroyed ~ do the guns damage shoreline stuff like same sites and buildings? i wanted to start making some missions and what not with some random units popping in for replayability ~ also i'm assuming the surface radar does not spot these targets so i would have to have them set to reveal at start ~ what about recon with helo? could i have the mission set to be a shoreline recon and send the helo out to try to spot these sites if i did not want to have them set to reveal at start? |
Shore targets are destructible by the 76mm.
Most land targets have substantial radar source levels, meaning they are detectable by radars. As this is database controlled, this could be changed if you're playing with a mod. Most (if not all) land targets also have visual source levels, which means they can be detected by anything with a visual sensor, which would include the helo. Again, this can be changed by a mod. |
hmm ~
wonder why the salvo i fired from the guns then did not destroy the SAM site - i understand that i might not get visual confirmation through the game, but wouldn't it state destroyed in the debrief?? |
You should. But sometimes things get removed from the list. the best indicator is that you'll see it blow up. Especially for small targets, the explosion seems quite large relative to the target/munition size.

yea ~ have some playing around to do ~
right now test out why the carriers don't launch their alert 5 aircraft that i set in the mission builder ~ have a fligth of NK Fulcrums inbound and 4 F14 set to alert five and they never launch |
