Damage to boat contributes to save bug?
Hey all Id had this save bug issue for the first time (crashes after the "not so long ago..." message). Tried the solution offered onthese forums here:

Sit. in game is unerwater in th emiddle of a convoy with charges being dropped in vicinity. BUT ... I noticed that when the game loads my crew tells me the flak gun and forward deck are damaged. This is true, but it's old news in game, but being relayed as htough it just happened. The only mod I removed from jsmge was the enhanced damage mod. Could there be a connection? Thought Id see if this has been noticed/discussed before. I cant be bothered testing it out myself! :yawn: |
Not a bug per se.
Just when the game loads, it seems to load a healthy boat, then applies past damage. Your crew then reports it as new. |
If the boat has sustained enough damage, you'll see the broken glass fall out of the gauges in the control room upon startup.

In my opinion, based on my experience playing SH3 and the fact that i'm a software developer (like many here, probably), I'd say that this bug is triggered by long loading times, and this might be caused by a lot of factors. From scenario complexity (nearby convoys, etc.) to harddisk/filesystem speed.
Sometimes I have fixed it by "touching" the files in the save directory, sometimes I had to remove some saves, sometimes just nothing won't work and an older save will do. I have even experienced a period where I just can't start a new campaing and load it after a few saves, and the bug was gone after some months of forgetting about the game. |
