Stickeyed?

Here is a thought...

We should create a mod loadout page (sticky). It would be a great reference to Kaluens who may of spent to much time on leave at local French brothels and cafes (like myself):woot:.

Every month or so it seems somebody new comes back to try out their skills again on Sh3 after finding a new mod or discovering a new way to play. Why not help them with a list of mods that work for the Kaluen and let the person in question discover himself/her what works best?

In order to post you must include your list of mods (including patchs/megamods) in the order that works best and the author who created the mod. That way our archive of mods created by Pilsken can be used to optimum efficiency!

Just a thought.... I beleieved the Sh5 forums has it.

Anyway ill post my mod loadout when i get home. IF my fellow kaluens believe this is a good idea. :yep:

Wolfstriked 04-27-12 05:57 PM

I have found most of my good mods due to just this idea.:yeah:

I have a mess I would not even know where to start. For example I use some of klt.Kurtz's sounds but since I do not speak German I use english as baseso I understand the bearing readings etc.Must say I downloaded that Ultimate plane sound mod and its excellent!I also really like Pascal's crew management screen. And GWX 16km environmental mod is amazing when you get fog and cloudy skies. To me it looks better than SH5 and just blows away the original GWX environment.

EDIT...can't forget the excellent MaguiF,TMTv2 and my new found love the Ujagd that it has as optional.Never knew it was there till just now...great find for me.:up: I was thinking...why is HAHD claiming they have gotten a working UJAGD....and come to realize that its a 90sec compared to 60 sec for those lon=ooong boats.

Hi wolkstriked, the real deal u-jadg stophur is a 100 second stopwatch.
This has been converted to 60 seconds for use by some mods for speed calculations using the fixed line method.

The u-jadg in Hahd is like the real stopwatch a 100 second model.
This is working due to external code that I wrote and was not possible to do till now.

But in essence they both do the same job. One is 60 the other 100.
:salute:

I figured something like that Reaper, great tool it will be and thanks.:up:

Of course questions I have. The boat your tracking is 270 and the largest range is 200.Do I fudge the 200 line and add 1/3 of the speed shown since 70 is 1/3 of 200.LMAO if you understand that.

Sailor Steve 04-29-12 12:17 PM

I've posted my mod loadout dozens of times, so I'm not inclined to do it again here.

Wolfstriked 04-29-12 02:59 PM

Sailor Steve,I guess the OP wants a sticky thread where people post their lists.I will post yours here since I used alot of your recommendations.
...

EDITED: It's no big deal, but I guess respecting Steve's will is a better option. (Hitman)

Yes sailorsteve that was whole point of post. Having a mod loadout page will prevent reposting of ur mods repeatedly and the endless posts of noobs asking for mod loadouts. (i am guilty of this also). As you know it is overwhelming trying to find old mods and new ones you want to try.. Pilskens page is great but only if u know mod creators name.
anyway it was just an idea.

P.s ive seen 2 posts just created with the exact issue im talking about

Hi Mate, easiest method would be to use the 150M scale and just double the value.

Ie: if it took 55 seconds for a vessel of 300M to cross the crosshair, then reading the time of the 150M scale would give 5.5Kts.
now double that to convert to 300Ms gives 11Kts.

Scales are very versatile that way.

Do you always go around posting other people's stuff right after they said they didn't want it?

And what makes you thing yours will be stickied when the others haven't? You should have contacted a forum moderator first, if that's your goal.

TorpLos 04-29-12 07:40 PM

Your internet tone isn't very friendly Sailorsteve. lol:down: You sound like a crumudgeon.

Hence the question mark in my OP. Plus the fact that i was seeing every1s responses and thought if enough people were positive (unlike yourself) a mod would notice and maybe sticky.

Sailor Steve 04-29-12 08:30 PM

We've had stickied mod threads before. What ends up happening is that that they get more and more confused, links get taken down and it turns into a real mess. If this thread gets stickied you'll end up with a whole lot of lists with people cross-posting asking questions, and others giving answers, and mod lists scattered hither and yon. So far you have two lists, one by you and mine which was posted by someone else against my wishes. I also don't see his own list there.

Yes, I am a curmudgeon. I'm old both in years and in experience. I've seen this sort of thing a great many times before, and I know it doesn't work.

Hitman 04-30-12 02:25 AM

The idea is good, but Steve has a point there. Such threads easily become a problem because people see mods in the lists from others and start asking what they are and where they can be found; this in turn starts cluttering the thread with links, dead links, copy and paste of readmes, etc, and as a result, the mod list of everyone is not post after post, but frequently spaced by several pages. In that regard, it is very different from a "sticky" thread maintained by one person, where you can find in the mantained 1st post the relevant information and updated links.

This system instead causes new users to become discouraged by having to browse through hundreds of pages to find the next list of mods, and then they still need to find answers about where to find many of them, with people sometimes giving answers to questions posed dozens of pages ago, etc.
