Here's an interesting fact:

In Slovenia st: George is known as sv. Jurij. Sv Jurij was on a 1000 dinar banknote issued in 1920 pre-communist Yugoslavia and from that the term Jurja (a George roughly translated) originated for 1000 dinar, and the tolar and now the euro. 5000 euroes is called 5 jurjev (5 georges)

In France, St George is the Patron Saint of Cavalry (and riders, too).

He is celebrated in all Tank Regiments (Cavalry Regiments are rather rare currently ...) each April 23.

As a former Dragoon Officer, and now a as rider, only one word today :

"Par Saint-Georges, vive la Cavalerie !"

"By Saint George, long live Cavalry !"
