[WIP] PT-Boat mission pack.
 
When the playable Higgins and Elco are done, it will be cool to have a bunch o' missions ready to go with the mods. I'm creating this thread to cut down on clutter in the Higgins' thread (god forbid I hijack my own thread:haha:)

I want to organize the missions by area of operation:
  • Philippines
  • Solomons and Guadalcanal
  • New Guinea
  • Mediterranean
  • Aleutians
  • The Channel/D-Day
  • Melville Training missions:hmmm:
Let the brainstorming begin:woot:.

Side note: How would it work if we put AI PTs in missions? I don't think they shoot torps, but would they shoot (guns) at the enemy AI?

Will this be a campaign or more just missions? A campaign would be great.Basically you could write new patrol orders and flotillas for the PT boat a this as an add on to RSRD.That way say you could play the PT side of things during the Leyte Campaign, solomons etc, add some if needed.Just an idea... Solomons could be pretty intense in a pt boat.

I'm hoping it ( this project) will morph into that. I'd need a lot of help for that to happen. Maybe something like the Japanese campaign idea. I'm not sure how to make that part happen, but I do have tons of artwork to make it cool.

I'm in mission research phase right now.

I've been sqawkin about a pt campaign for years and would anybody listen to yubba, nnnoooooooooooooooooo but of course I was stuck in sh3 for 2 years beause of broken high end machine s-boote was alot of fun.

If you're seriously interested in the project, go buy yourself a copy of "At Close Quarters", a highlighter pen, and a notebook. Start readin' and takin' notes. All help is welcome.:yeah:
I'm reading the Guadalcanal canal campaign right now. :rock:
These guys (PT-Boaters) had a lot of balls in the pre-radar days (1942-43).:salute:

Another good book too, is Devil Boats. Used to have that one. Great book too!

Cool, it would be nice to have both.I made some single missions once and used my sub like a torpedo boat in the solomons night battles, it was fun but tough bc i was a large target and not as swift nor did have heavy fast firing weapons, but it was fun.Someone made a daihatsu(sp?) landing craft one time for SH 4 but never saw it implemented into the mods, it would be great for the solomons as they were used often.Something definitely needed for the PT boats are twin 50. call mounts, working bofors, and the 37MM cannon as an upgrade option perhaps? 20MM's also.

Also, rescuing of downed aviators esp in dangerous areas should be a somewhat common thing.Doing a little reading, seems some PT skippers were given the medal of honor for daring rescues.Rushing in at flank speed to pick up a downed aircrew with in sight of the shore, would be a lot of fun.

AI craft just shooting guns effectively would be cool even if they didnt shoot torpedos at the IJN units.Although, torpedoes would be pretty awesome. Solomons in 42 and 43 would be rather intense:)

Not sure how to mod this but, It would be cool have a new deck gun file and use the 40mm model (single barrel). The one in the game is fine with me. The only problem I can see, is when you zoom in, it changes to the deck gun sites, not the bofor sites.:hmmm::dead:
