japanese sub attack

Has anyone been attacked by a japanese sub?I remember playing silent service on the 8 bit nintendo once and was cruising off the south coast of japan when the alarm was given of a torpedo approaching.
Totally unexpected and very exciting, ordered full ahead and full port rudder and was barely missed, like the song say's"the minutes turned to hours".
After it missed I was able to look around and saw the subs conning tower disappearing under the waves.
Actually that game was pretty advanced for the time.

I believe some of the mods have enbled Japanese subs that travel around on the surface and act as potential targets. But they don't travel submerged and attack you. Torpedo attacks by Japanese subs were rather rare in the actual conflict, resulting in one US sub lost. (USS Corvina in 1943)

I know TMO and RSRD have Jap and German subs roaming the Pacific, but as stated surface only, but they will blast you with deckguns, not torps.
A few type of planes can make torp runs at you if you just happen to run into them, also mod depending. I have run into a few midget subs submerged in the Bungo.

Yeah, you can have a deck gun duel with them. And though they will not fire with torps, they are valid targets for torpedo attacks.

Note also that they will appear docked in all sorts of harbors, and also cruising the ocean, although I am sure that different mods (specially the ones that deal with realistic traffic) deal with this matter in different ways.
