Ferocious nature sounds

My daughter kept complaining that there were some weird sounds coming from the backyard. I ignored it, then she recorded the sounds through the kitchen window.

Nikki McBee probably knows what I did next.

Anyone able to ID the sounds??

Nasty sounds, I'm intrigued, possums here sound horrid, like a throat being cut!!:dead:

Cry for Mummy?:hmmm:

I have very good hearing, but the upper registers seem to be going. All I hear is heavy breathing.

Were it coming from a distance I would say maybe a wild pig, but if you are sure it was in your backyard more likely a racoon. They can make some really funky sounds.

Went outdoors wearing slippers, boxers, subsim T-shirt and Subsim Cap armed with a rolled up newspaper waving it above your head shouting ''GET OF MY LAWN!''?

If I didn't know better I'd say you had koala's in your yard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzIOmajepgw

So did you run away like a girl?:O:

Racoons can sound like that when fighting over food or mating rights. Probably your best bet.

Shucks, a BB gun shuts em right up. Just one or two pump required. No need to kill 'em less'n you wanna. :03:

Koalas smurfing with Neal's pepper plants?

nikimcbee 04-17-12 08:58 AM

Neal could have left a bowl of his mum's banana pudding out on a table and he attracted one of those wild hairless geordies.:hmmm:

Here's some footage of a wild, furry Geordie:

The sounds are coming from some kind of Herons or cranes.
First time I heard it, I was like, WTH??! I pictured some kind of rabid bobcat with his tail in a bear trap...

We went outside with my high power flashlight and we could see the birds in the trees. We see them during the daylight hours, but they act more civilized then.:O:

I knew it wasn't those squirrels you get every day...so I was thinking it was simply a recording of the sounds during that BBQ we all enjoyed in your garden at the 2008 SS Meet :DL

Oh and BTW you have outstanding messages on Skype from Steve and yours truly :03:

I was just thinking it sounds like either raccoons or a skunks growling and hissing. Probably a territorial squabble over rights to the garbage cans.

It's the cons digging the tunnel out the prison near by! The cranes are just accessories!

:D
