Are white bass a "trash fish"?
I seem to catch plenty of white bass when I'm out on the water. So many I figured I'd take a few home with me one of these days. But a friend told me yesterday that white bass are trash fish and not any good eating. Since I haven't been fishing in years I am left feeling a bit puzzled, so I figured I would submit a poll here.
Are white bass worth taking home to the frying pan? :06: |
Feed the racoons with that. They're not from the Mississippi ?
I am biased though, Ever since I discovered salt water fishing, I haven't gone fresh water fishing.:D Krashkart, come deep sea fishing w/ me.:D |

Hey McBee, if I ever get out to Oregon can I park my rusty RV in your driveway? I'm sure you can find enough space to park on the street. :O::salute: |

White bass are an extremely tasty fish. The trick is cleaning them and preparing them correctly.
Remove the "red" meat from them during cleaning - as well as the skin. If your going to smoke them you can leave the skin on - but if your going to fry them up - it has to come off. Filet's are fantastic. They are a great "fresh" fish to eat - if your going to freeze them, do so in some catch water - to keep the taste and texture. Otherwise you lose out. Enjoy! |
