Punch Card (1900-1950s)

Ahem! I was using punch cards back in 1979. Harrumph. :stare:

8" Floppy Disk (1971-1979)

I was using 8 inch floppy disks in the Air Force in the early 1990's Double Harrumph. :stare::stare:

What happened to the abacus and plain old paper as storage devices?

Paper:
Used: ~200BC-Present
Capacity: Approximately 2500 bytes/A4 page

I remember when my paycheck was a punchcard.

I love direct deposit, and I love USB.

I was about to mention also when the Eagle pooped it was in the form of a punch card every two weeks.

What have you got against stone?
It is far more secure than paper for data storage and has a longer history.

Old techology. It takes too long to write. And it's fairly lacking in the portability department.

They left out the terabyte disk.

I don't miss the floppy disks. Could you imagine installing SH5 from a 5 inch floppy.:hmmm::haha: You'ld have a pallet of disks.

Please insert disk 507 to continue the installation.:dead:

Back then, games were smaller. But I actually dislike the part where they deteriorate over time, so you can never really trust them.

I get the same experience with DVD-Rs.
