Decoys

I have a question, now i know decoys are suppose to fool the enemy sonar so you can get away. However if these decoys suppose to make a noise underwater why won't they work on a torpedo?.The reason am askin is on my last patrol I fired a cutie (MK27) and it came back at me,so I deployed decoys to see if that would distract to torpedo but it didn't,I didn't have the option to go deep i was in shallow waters I think about 100feet the only thing the decoy attracted was a dd which funny enough didn't drop it's cans on me and as it passed over me the cutie then latched onto the dd blowing it's screws off.

I'm not sure what kind of decoys are modeled in the game, but the simplist type involved ejecting a cannister of material that generated a gas. The gas didn't make noise, it only reflected the pings of enemy escorts. I think better decoy types came along later. Do you get a choice of what kind of decoy when you replenish?

The game states the decoys are the gas bubble canister types, which would have no effect on the passive acoustic homing of a Mk 27. It's hearing your engine, not sending any signal out that you might misdirect in some way. The only way to avoid a Mk 27 coming after you is to stop engines and swerve.
