Returning back to sh3
 

Hi guys,
Since I am deciding to return (from sh4) back to sh3 I'd like if you could recommend me the best mods for me since it's a while since I played it. I'm not so good with manual target (maybe I will try it someday) but I enjoy the game anyway. Any ideas on good mods?

Aviv, get GWX3 and SH3 Commander. After that everything is icing on the cake.

Okay great thanks for the info guys. I installed GWX3 and tried it out a little in the training and checked out the museum. So firstly, it's a really neat mod and I like it. But of course there's a problem. When I try to start a campaign or try any mission, the game loads to 9/10 and then it freezes and I get a CTD (plus the cliché "SH3 has malfuncioned lalala.." message). Maybe I installed it incorrectly or I'm doing something else wrong, but I was looking forward to play this game. It's just my luck it won't run!

What OS are you running ?

It's 32bit 2GB with a 2 Duo 2GHz processor with GMA 4500MHD grafics card. I know it's not such powerful stats, but unfortunately I didn't think about games when I bought this computer a few years ago..

And your OS? I had the same $$#$@! with GWX3 and SH3.2 Comm. I'm using Vista (32)

ok if you running XP and have error reporting enabled,

To enable or disable error reporting
1.
Open System in Control Panel.
2.
On the Advanced tab, click Error Reporting.
3.
Click Disable error reporting or Enable error reporting.

You will receive a pop up when SH3 CTDs

Click the blue highlighted text "click here"

The part related to your CTD is highlighted in blue in pic above - in this instance simdata.dll which would indicate a campaign issue
Be helpfull to have the relavant .dll issue

If using Vista or 7 go to Start/Control Panel/Problem Reports and Solutions

On the left hand side click " View problem history"

Scroll down to latest SilentHunterIII entry and right click
Select "View problem details"

Again modname is the area looking for

As always with Vista or 7 always install outside of the program files folder

It's okay thanks, I reinstalled it outside of the program files and it works fine. The mod is pretty cool!

I remember when i have old pc and had to play SH3 but when i joined this awesome forum and download GWX 3 everything change, and now i had good pc able to run SH4 on full details, but Something pulls me back to SH3 and this thing is GWX 3!

Im limited to realism mods due to V16B1 patching kit i applyed! if you have any good realism mods that you no will run ok with what i got feel free to Pm me a list i would love some new mods to add! and thats my active list theres about 30 avalible for my arcade career lol!
