Ships you have never hit
Aside from some classes of escorts, I have never hit a carrier or an ocean liner.
I finally got an ammunition ship off the bucket list.:rock: |

...the one that got away! north of scotland, i have the feeling it was alone - but i doubt it. i was coming home with no eels - all expended :cry: and in the starry night out she came all alone, bobbing along. i turned to ninety degrees and crept away untill out of sight. no idea about escorts or anything - she was just there - thats it. just there, like a great dark ghost.... ...the frustration.....! |
@flag4
Hit that beauty, but never a carrier................ as yet :03: http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...er/Hood3-1.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...er/Hood2-1.jpg Sorry for the HUD Best regards. Fubar2Niner |
@RConch:
Go to ED98 and wait. Many big 24,400 GRT ocean liners heading to Port of Spain Many large tankers outbound |
Fired a total of 7 eels at the Nelson over the course of 2 attacks recently - only 1 of them actually made the distance to her and even that one missed, all the others blew up enroute. :damn:
|
Sad to say, I myself am not on that list.
I would 'like' to encounter a Q ship someday. |
havnt killed one of those ship service things, saw one once.
|
There's always a French Small Depot ship parked in AN84 at the intersection of AN81/82/84/86 before the war begins. It is 6,250 GRT but it's not an easy kill. You'll need 2 or 3 eels to sink it. Beware, it is armed and will shoot back.

Two Fiji class cruisers with light escort. I took a shot at each of them and scored hits, but one hole apiece wasn't enough. Wasted a good number of fish on those buggers when they jinked away. The group was moving too fast for me to pursue and I had to give up.
It was an exciting encounter, though. My first task force intercept. :yep: |
HMS Hood is one that defiantly have not sunk
|
I have yet to sink : a Prince of Wales class battleship and a London class heavy cruiser.
I am lucky enough so far to have sunk an Essex class fleet carrier , an Illustrious class carrier and the SS Queen Mary liner (83K tons) |

now that. is a serious bummer :down: bad luck Tinman, better luck next time :yep: |
I haven't seen or sunk a Queen Mary Liner. Got a torpedo into the Hood once but she shrugged it off and sailed on.
Once I, almost, sank two battleships in one patrol: I hit the Revenge, moving in the middle of a convoy at 5 knots, with 3 torps and she went down like a rock: http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/7...sinminutes.jpg Then towards the end of my patrol (4 torpedoes left) I came across the Rodney under similar conditions (middle of the convoy moving 8 knots): http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/2...hitsrodney.jpg http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/957...hitsrodney.jpg She went dead in the water, started to settle be the bows and then just floated there. I waited until the rest of the convoy sailed on, rose to periscope depth and waited some more. And waited, and waited. I finally took a stern shot at her with my last torpedo. The torp premed about 100 meters short. I waited around for two days but she just laid there. I was so frustrated that thought of ramming her went through my mind (very briefly). Finally I sailed home. http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/8...usestosink.jpg |
David:
Surface next to her in the dead angle of her guns and send her down with your 88mm. It would probably only take a couple of rounds.:yeah: Think of the bragging rights back a the O-club!:hmmm: All those smart-aleck Kaleuns who brag of successfully duking it out with a destroyer will go crawl off into a corner and sulk.:rotfl2: |
An Iowa class battlewagon. Now THAT'S a beauty of a ship to sink!
