The Princess as she currently looks... http://maritimematters.com/wp-conten...c1-470x351.jpg I must confess I wasn't a big fan of the show at the time. My fantasy as dumb teenager was to see the 20,000 ton vessel loaded to the gunwales with explosives and sailed into Fantasy Island (another ABC show I didn't like) and have the plunger thrown. But nostalgia tinges all memories and it's sad to see her go. |

:hmmm: Wiki article says that ship was renamed to Pacific not Princess. Also it says that ship's length is 167.14 metres. Even if we think that that number is from waterline not overall it still falls short of 376 metres.
EDIT: @Subnuts: 376-195=181 metres. I think you mistook article's ship to current Pacific Princess which is (according to Wiki) exactly 181 metres in length. |

I remember that show vividly. All the romance and stuff was just a cover, it was in fact a documentary on the dangerous and thrilling world of BALLOON SMUGGLING! If you watch it, check out all the women smugglers that walk past the camera in a single episode. The rest was all "cover".

I hope Capt. Stupid and the rest of his motley crew are aboard when they break it up.

I thought it was one of the more harmless shows of the 70's. Never set my schedule to watch it, but if I happened to surf to it, it was enjoyable.
What I liked about that show was that it never tried to be anything other than a sitcom type show where out of work actors could get a cameo and a few bucks. |
