Type II Interior 2 by Postalbyke (with many thanks to LucaGaeta, DivingDuck, and FlakMonkey)

This mod will replace the conning tower with one more closely modeled after design plans for type IIa u-boats and pictures from the finnish submarine Vesikko (which is the design proof for the type II class). I have also included the Diving Duck animation files to make the attack periscope in the conning tower raise and lower, and some trickery to make the internal periscope head turn where the scope is looking!

This mod is JSGME ready!

Warnings:

I modified cameras.dat to work with MaGui. It's not essential to this mod, but I like the effect it has on the bridge view and the "numpad 0" function.

I modified the Commands_en.cfg to move the periscope inside, and for H.sie's V16A3 fix.

I modified DD_interior.anm and DD_interior.dat, this *may* affect you if you have any DivingDuck interiors.

This product is unfinished. I haven't fixed the light to come on, the graphics on the gauges don't line up 100%, and I haven't set any of the camera work inside the conning tower. I highly recommend using control room free camera (shift+f2) to manually go to the conning tower.

This mod is to be freely distributed and never paid for.
If you want to improve it, go ahead, and please PM me cause I can't wait for someone with better skills to fix it!
Finally, please put my name in the credits if you use part of this mod for your own.

Slight update: taking time off playing the game to fix that bloody light, then maybe try to figure out how to raytrace and implement shadows on wings3d or something...

I have since fixed the red striping and some of the uv on the interior scope head :D Still working on that light and the lightmaps... wings3d imports what I want with no drama, but doesn't move it around the way I like.... I might have to revamp some of the models so they work in wings *ugh*

Anyrate! every time I "fix" the light, I get a floating black square between me and the light, or the light is shining through the grating around the light, but not the light itself... Any pointers on how to mount these things? or should I just go lift a light from something else?

Thanks! Right now I'm working on some better uv's and that blasted light bulb... I've got some leads, though, so pretty much all my time not spent playing SH3 or working is going into that :D I made a really pretty CT that the game wouldn't open (all I got was a big empty space above the control room), so I'm going to try to re-make that :P
I also got the light to show up on some objects but not others, so I'm troubleshooting that lol

So it seems that the type II u-boot had an "observation size" periscope in the conning tower? Interesting. Is it historically accurate? :06:

IAW the drawings, the attack scope was a single-piece scope like the obs. scope.

I really wonder if they didn't use the increased turm size for IID to install a larger CT and depth independent scope... Although there still isn't much room belowdecks...

Yay! fixed the light bulb...
Boo! broke some textures :P

I would like to release the texture and light bulb fix at the same time.

Any arguments to the contrary? Wishing the AEF would just change the light bulb? I am open to early re-release.

PostalByke how are you.Just today I was searching for TypeIIa pics and hit a revelation.Amazing pics and even 360 degree panoramas of typeIIa.I seen this post and went to look for the pics and it just took me 1/2 hour(Google and Youtube can be picky if you do not word exactly as before it seems).....but oh so worth it!!!
