Gingrich excoriates elite media over
making Limbaugh the great national crisis of the week, poor David Greogory at meet the depressed, more worried about birth control than rise-ing fuel prices, and the plite of the unemployed. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/ging...-of-this-week/ maybe some of you can explain to yubba why the elite media doesn't want talk about the real issues at hand.

Ask the GOP why they are cutting there own throats by making non-issues like birth control, same-sex marriage, religious-based initiative, the "unfairness" of the "liberal" media, etc. primary issues instead of making concrete, detailed, cogent proposals to issues like unemployment, outsourcing overseas, financial institution manipulation/corruption, holding legally and criminally responsible those who got the country in this mess, etc. It is sad To watch the GOP getting flushed down the drain by catering to the whining and shouting of the most radical, non-critical; in terms of relevance to real issues affecting the entire country, not just very minority special interest groups. Time and time again, the GOP would rather make the non-issues the spotlight rather than really take the lead and deal with reality. If the GOP doesn't right ship and take the country's problems seriously, they are going down the same path as the Dems when they catered to MCGovern, McCarthy and the others who nearly sank their party...

Because the news media does not just cover stories that a political candidate wants to be covered.

I, too, would direct the question back to the GOP. If Team R does not want to discuss social conservatism, Team R's candidates should probably stop talking about social conservatism. As soon as Santorum and Gingrich started using their social stances to show their differences with both Obama and Romney, those differences became part of the national discourse. You'd better be prepared to chow down if you open that can of worms.

There is nothing to stop Gingrich and 'Team R' from speaking out about real issues on media programming. If George S. wants to lead with contrception, answer instead with a cogent comment or proposal about the economy. What is George going to do: throw him off the show?. In fact, I really believe most of these shows would welcome a politician of any stripe whio would openly and honestly deal with major, important issues. When I saw the title of this thread "Gingrich excoriates elite media...", my initial reaction was "What else is new?". Now if the caption was "Gingrich details bold plan to revive the economy", we'd hace something there...

I'm just amazed that yubba used the word "excoriates"...spelled correctly, too.

As for Limbaugh and Gregory, meh. They're non-factors. Pundits like to talk, and they especially like to talk about each other. |
Go back to the '92 campaign, GHW Bush vs Clinton. Remember the debate where GHWB was nattering about hid '1,000 points of light' and all the other non-issues with which the GOP was trying to placate the voters. The minute that guy in the audience got up and called GHWB on his avoidance of the economy, the debate and the election was won by Clinton who did address the issues. The popular saying at the time was "It's the economy, stupid!" The GOP then, and now, rather chose to give on to the harpies on the extreme right instead of dealing with reality. The sight of GHWB, fully chastened, standing there constantly sneaking glances at his watch spoke volumes about what was wrong then with the GOP and what is wrong now. I really believe the American voters would get behing someone, anyone, who took the problems that affect their everyday lives honestly and seriously...
