Spring break Steam special?

Steam often gives good discount during certain event such as thanksgiving and Xmas. Somebody knows if there has been already this kind of discount on the series Silent Hunter because the Springbreak is coming and I have big hope for a Steam Sale?

Next question: SH3 - SH4 - SH5 or all of them ?

I played SH3 (with GWX) a long time ago and love it.
Players seems to prefer SH4 to SH3 but the critics are not that good (metacritics: SH4 = 79/100 compare to SH3 = 90/100).
Players seems to hate SH5.

Thx

Ps English is my second language, don't be to hard please.

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

It's cheaper to by a hard copy through Amazon, and Subsim.com gets a cut if you use the link at the bottom of the page.

Of course I'm biased against Steam since their computer refused to talk to me because I live outside the United States.

SH3 has had the most development from modders.

SH4 is basically better but never recieved a lot of the cooler mods.

SH5 is best in appearance, but has a half-baked role-playing model, only one u-boat type and only a tiny handful of merchant types. This will likely be fixed someday, but for now it's still very limited.

SH3 and 5 are so cheap now, to wait for a Steam sale seems a bit ridiculous. SH4 (with U-boat) seems to still be expensive-ish, at least here in the UK!

All three have their fans, and their slaters, I love 3, couldn't get on with 4 and am currently trying to give 5 a go - but that's me, some don't like 3 or 4, and some don't like 4 or 5, hell - I'm sure that some even prefer 2.

My point? Buy them now, all of them, and let us know what you think. :yep:

I live in Canada. Sadly amazon.com doesn't work and amazon.ca doesn't have any deal (SH3: Game = 4.99$ but shipping = 8.99$). Steam is still my best option (SH3 = 9.99$ no shipping, no taxes). I'll probably go for the bundle SH3 + SH4 & u-boat exp. for 29.99$.

Presently, I don't have a lots of time to play. I'll probably wait and hope for a sale at the spring break. If it doesn't happen, I'll buy them full price because I'm not going to wait forever that's for sure.

While waiting, i try to learn the basic stuff such as : Manual TDC, Hydrophone hunting, etc.

Thanx. I already know that I love Silent Hunter. I played SH3 when he came out. I'm really happy to getting back to it. :) I'm really excited to try the new techniques (hydrophone hunting, blind shooting, successful evasive maneuvers tactics, etc.) that I have studied in the past week. I never thought that I'll be so happy to do complex math/geometric problems but now I just can't wait.

I learned this the hard way-- Don't get SH5 from steam unless you don't mind a mostly useless hydrophone.
