How easy is it to install the Grey Wolves mod?

Im scared to download it and try to install it as I don't want to lose my career.. What is involved and will it be harder for my computer to run? My computer is full of crap and I don't want gameplay to suffer if you know what i mean...

GWX is really quite simple to install and is being played by thousands of sub simmers.

Click on the link above my sig and you have a number of choices regarding what format your most comfortable with:

One exe plus seven bin files
The above via torrent or a single exe file via torrent.

Click on my sig and that will take you to the official GWX website where you will find comprehensive installation instructions.

Last but not least...there are a great many GWX users on this forum who will give you all the help and advice you may need.

You need only ask http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Don't leave home without it.:DL
Always has been a good policy of mine to use a clean fresh install prior to loading a mega mod.
Good hunting!:salute:

Do you mean I should uninstall the game and reinstall it prior to installing Grey Wolves? I have only been playing 2 weeks but up to my 13th patrol and won all the medals and don't want to lose it. Sorry if these are stupid questions. I just don't know that much about computers anymore lol. Back in school it was different lol... By the way thanks again for the quick answers! You guys rock! :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

For the very best SH3 experience, download GWX Gold and Silent Hunter 3 Commander. With Commander, you can choose the month, year and sub that you want to start your career with. You can also change a whole load of game settings. As an example, I hated having to micro manage my crew with the out of the box game, but by running it through Silent Hunter 3 Commander, I can set 'no crew fatigue' and never have to worry with them. :)

Yes, a clean install of the game is the best way to go. To give you an idea:

What I did was I made a clean reinstall of the game, then copied the entire Silent Hunter 3 folder and renamed it SH3-GWX (Name your copy however you like). Then I installed GWX into the new folder. Worked like a charm. :salute:

Hope that helps.

Not to mention the 1.7 billion crew names or the fact that every ship you sink gets a name, cargo and crew. :sunny:

And the random tonnage setting, so that no two ships are ever the same GRT when you sink them.

Speaking of rtfm, Jim, does the site/manual for gwx mention the necessity to alter the install location for steam?

If not, it should.

Jimbuna 02-27-12 06:05 AM

Steam is an entirely different/separate entity to GWX.

TBH I'm not sure if it was even available from there at the time of the launch of GWX.
