SH3 won't run
Ahoy,
Just installed SH3 on my new comp and I get an error message when I try to start the game. This application can be launched with a release version of Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2.1/98/ME/NT 4.0/2000XP/Server 2003 only I have Windows 7 and I've changed the compatibility to Windows XP but it still won't run. Any help? Jeremy |
I am no expert but I have seen some threads suggesting with Win 7 you should not put the program into the program files. I also run win 7 and have SHIII in my program files and it works.
Anyway someone with more knowledge then me will be along to help you. |
Yes, check the win 7 thread. Maybe we should sticky that one?

The only solid cure I know-having the same problem last year. Is to buy the new version from Subsim without the starforce. It sucks buying two games-but it is the quickest way out of the problem.
The new version loads easy and most importantly-WORKS! Love it!:salute: |
I agree.
Get the star force free version. Uninstall From the disc, clean your registry and reinstall with the new disc in a seperate folder on your C drive. |
Whilst it's great to buy another copy - from Amazon using the link in the Quick Links drop down, above. You really don't need to, just read the stickied threads in the SH3 section about Win 7 and Starforce removal.

W7 will fight SF so you need to extinguish using the removal too (see link above)....it is also adviseable to install SH3 into C/Program Files (x86).

I run the Steam version on Win7 64 bits without issues. Also an option apparently (and relatively cheap to re-buy if your disk version won't work because of Starforce).
:arrgh!: |
