Getting More Promotions?
 

I figured out how to add promotions and medals on SH3...is there a similar way to do it on SH4? I've only been given a certain number of promotions (I think like seven), and I've got eighteen people that need promoting, including six S1Cs, whom I felt incredibly guilty when I advanced all the other S1Cs on my boat to PO3, but had to the leave them as S1Cs because I didn't have enough promotions to go around. Now I've got twelve PO1s who have qualified for CPO and again I don't have enough promotion spots. Anyone know how to modify the cfg files to get more?

Nevermind...the problem fixed itself. I now have more promotions than I need; my crew now comprises the usual number of officers and maybe eight (if that) Petty Officers. All the rest are Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, and Master Chiefs. Does the game let you promote Master Chiefs to Ensign, or Lieutenants to Lieutenant Commander? Or has nobody encountered that yet?

Yes.
I don't think so. From Ensign up promotions are done by the game itself, and I've never seem anyone go higher than Lt.

There's a good reason for that. A Lieutenant Commander gets his own boat.

I've got between 6 and 8 Master Chiefs who are about to become Ensigns, and the two officers who started out the war as Lieutenants are rapidly approaching the 20,000-point mark. Wonder what'll happen when they reach it?

Nothing happens. They don't get promoted out of your boat.
