AA and proper Sun graphics
Moin Kaleuns,
I am trying to get anti aliasing to work along with the sun glare as I found in this post: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...128517&page=25 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/267/shyes.jpg/ Here are my settings: Nvidia Control Panel: 3D Settings, Adjust image settings with preview, Let the 3D application decide Nvidia Inspector 1.9.5.9: http://img.techpowerup.org/120203/nv...203_132519.png http://img.techpowerup.org/120203/nv...203_133522.png Edit: Thank you for your help, I have AA but no Sun glare. :salute: |
So I am confused - do these settings solve the problem or are you still having a problem?
I'm getting the "golfball sun" and no halo and am looking to fix it. Steve |
I use these settings on a GTX 580 and have a very nice sun :

Thanks for the helping hand. I adopted your settings as you can see on my settings here: http://img.techpowerup.org/120203/nv...203_160447.png But I still have a golfball sun as you can see here along with another visual glitch at the bottom of my binocular view that I have to fix (I can't recall how I fixed this one in the past :hmmm:): http://www.techpowerup.org/uploaded....5.59.43_50.png |
I have a GeForce GTS250 graphics card.

I don't know if it helps you guys, because I have an ATI card (HD6870) with the AMD Control Center, but I had just reinstalled my SH3/Grey Wolves on a new system and found that I was getting the golf ball sun as well.
Only thing I did was change the AA from "Use Application Settings" to using the GPU's AA @ 4x; AA mode is set to Multi-Sample (I've got a Super Sample setting but haven't even tried it yet). Anyway, after restarting the game I had the glare/halo back on the sun. |
Only way ive found to get AA and sun glow working with my card (gtx 540m) is to limit the AA to 2x only, any higher and is vanishes.

@Victor
Hi mate, here is a couple shots of my sunflare; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/Sunflare.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...er/sunhalo.jpg Not sure if this may help but check your NVidea control panel; Manage 3D settings, here is the way mine is set: Anistropic filtering 16x Antialiasing - Gamma correction Global Setting Antialiasing Mode Overide any app setting Antialiasing - Setting 8x Antialiasing Transparency 8x (supersample) CUDA - GPU Gloabl setting MAX pre-rendered frames Gloabal (3) Multi display/mixed GPU acceleration Single display performance Power Management Global (Adaptive) Texture filtering-Aniso sampling Global (Off) Texture filtering-LOD bias Clamp Texture filtering-Quality High Quality Texture filtering-Trilinear On All other settings are default, this may help. Ryan once said to me that my vidcard could be using the NVidea control panel settings rather than NVid controller. Possibly a mix of both ? Either way it works for me :yep: Hope this helps shipmate :salute: Best regards. Fubar2Niner |
I tried every setups proposed but no joy until now... :-?

OK, I played around with my graphics card settings and I now get a very nice spectacular halo with lens flare effect!

The main problem is really a mix between Nvidia control panel and nvidia inspector.
Have sure that you open nvidia control pannel and set the Antialiasing gama correction to off (even if it always is at off - do it again - for both Global settings and SH3). Then it must work. Anyway, for me is a surprise that the AA&Sun halo works for AA>4xmultisample.:hmmm: |
One thing I am noticing now, and I don't know if it is my changes to the graphics settings or the mod, but with the Merchant Fleet Mod the smokestack smoke looks like a bunch of blotches of smoke rather than actual smoke.
