Amazon ad causing trouble

Yes that is right, I'm complaining about the totally innocent little advertisement up there. Yes there, the one you're looking at.

I've been using the forums with phone (Samsung - Android) for a while now and since I've been battling with that ad. It seems that roughly 2/3 of the page, from right edge towards left is under the ad. I can see everything fine and the ad looks normal but in case I click anywhere it always activates the link and shows the edges of the image being clicked, which is that 2/3 of the web page.

I can live with it but it's highly irritating that to change pages etc. you'll have to hit directly the center of the number or otherwise you're on the way to amazon.com Same with the smileys when you write the post.

So just curiosity, is anyone able to check if there is something wrong with the ad or is it just my phone. Also, has anyone else had problem like this?

Thanks
- Johnny

Just curious. What phone you have and what browser?

Thank goodness – i thought it was just me. Yeah, i get the same thing on my Motorola Droid phone. It's been driving me crazy. Doesn't happen on my old Iphone, though.

That issue has been going on for quite some time now. It happens on my HTC Evo and my newly purchased Acer tablet. I PM'd Neal about it a few days ago.

Mentioned it in this thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=184829 on July 6th last year, and seconded by AVGWarhawk.

I also PM'd Neal about it just the other day but I know he's been busy.

Originally it was on my HTC Hero, which was not too bad as I could use the little trackball to navigate around the screen to avoid clicking the ad. Now I've just got Galaxy S2 and there's no trackball so the only option is to touch the screen, it's pot luck if I go to Amazon or not, but it is very frustrating.

And I've used the default browser, dolphin HD (and mini), and Opera - all with the same result. The hyperlink for the Amazon download store just extends all the way down the page.

Edit - dammit, beaten by AVGWarhawk - I spent too long searching for that thread!

Yeah, I've been having this issue with Dolphon Browser on Android too. Easy workaround.

It seems that the ad takes a little bit longer to load that the main page. Wait an extra second or two and all should work fine :DL

Whoa.. I thought I was the only one :D

I have Samsung Galaxy GT-I5800 (no idea what's the name they tell to customers in shops, Galaxy something most likely) so it's year or two old. No idea what's the browser's name. Could try downloading another browser and checking if it helps.

Well, it is displayed fine and works fine on a Blackberry 9860. Maybe you gents just need better phones.. :hmmm: :D

Try Opera mobile.

Works flawless with forums or any text oriented sites.

I use nokia with symbian.

All sites I visit on my tablet or smart phone work fine with the browser that was originally installed on the tablet/phone. These worked fine with SS until a Amazon button was put somewhere that detects a touch. I'm not sure how the touch function works but it would seem the entire right side of the screen directs you to Amazon gaming page. Is the touch perimeters for Amazon to large? If you expand the webpage you have a 50/50 chance of activating via touch the function you want without being redirected to Amazon. I do not think the issue is related to a Amazon add that show up from time to time. I has to be related to a ever present Amazon clickable icon. :hmmm:
