For the stadimeter, have a look at stoianm's video tutorials, he used it quite often (probably in Chapter 9. How to use manual TDC)

- The sextant must be perfectly centered on the screen (the default position of the sextant). - The sextant scale(60°) must perfectly cover the whole screen (bottom to top). - The 0°-scale must be perfectly match with the sea horizon; difficult when the u-boot is rolling in the sea (100% realism). Position error when measurering celestial bodies: +- 120 sm ( = +- 1° error) or more Position error and other use: acceptable b) For horizontal use (running-fix, 2-position-fix, measure the angle between any two landmarks) http://navyadministration.tpub.com/1...4220_238_9.jpg - The sextant must be perfectly centered on the screen (the default position of the sextant). - Best to begin measurement from the center-point of the screen. Position error: acceptable |
Unless I'm mistaking, a common occurance, then;

There are 60 sm (see miles are the German version of nautical miles and the same as nautical miles) to one degree, thus, 120 sm equals two degrees , not one degree. |
